StG might be joining the Orange crowd . . . so far, I'm sticking primarily with Blue . . . less drama. Blue should make a mid-size ADV bike!!!

Thanks, Admiral. Not sure about the old tower . . . perhaps a signal tower??? Inside the shack was some old stuff and a fridge . . . looked more like an "office" than a "house." The ladder go up caught my eye, but I'm not nearly brave / foolish enough to climb up towards the top.

Enjoyed catching up on your ride pics. Great posts. Love following your exploring.

One of those water tanks out there has big goldfish in. Have you seen them?

Thanks, ElleDubs. Yeah, some very big goldfish in the tank at Jackson Well off of the Indian Springs Road. Deep water and low elevation so I guess the fish thrive (and multiply) year round. Great little ecosystem! Here's a crappy pic I took a couple of years ago. Ride report in post #144 on page 10.

Lots of tanks out there could use some fish of their own. Perhaps we'll have to stop at PetSmart at the beginning of one of our next inmate rides . . .

Excellent video you posted in the Utardia thread. I'll put a link up here to make sure everyone is envious of your recent EIGHT days of riding playtime in redrock country!

OK that's funny because I saw goldfish in a different tank in the same area. We were a few miles south of Eardley Rd

Virgin River Gorge. North (Utah) side. Up high, looking down on Cedar Pockets Wash. I-15 just off left edge of pic.
Area called "Blakes Lambing Grounds" on Benchmark. Accessible from Navajo Drive in Bloomington. Great views.

Close to home

Backyard. Very dramatic rainbow a couple of nights ago.

Late Saturday afternoon ride from Green Valley to Santa Clara. TW on top of ridge above Green Valley looking down on western St. George. Pine Valley Mountain in distance.

Here's the time and temp after poking around on dirt by Santa Clara. Beautiful evening.

After a family hike on Sunday, time for another late afternoon ride. This one from Navajo Drive to Santa Clara. Hey . . . no fish in these tanks.

On a smaller track approaching the White Hills.

Starting up the narrow, steeper part. The ATVs have beat this up, but on the plus side, no more boundary fences. Legal connections all the way through to Santa Clara.

Stopped for a pic at the same time and temp sign as I came back into my neighborhood. Fun rides. All less than 20 miles from my house.

Note: Posts #260 and #261 on page 18 show these two rides including a map.

Thanks for checking in. Appreciate all the comments. Ride safe, ride often.

Holy Smokes! There's a lot of info in this thread :) We are in the planning stages of a ride in the Az strip next year and this looks like some good winter reading.

Joshua Tree Scenic Backway and Virgin River Gorge

Other than one day, we've had great weather in St. George for the past week. Often take the Zuma 125 out around town running errands. One pic from downtown.

Out for a ride with Dad this past weekend. Joshua Tree Scenic Backway.

Ridden this area with Dad dozens of times. Always good!

I stop to take a few artistic shots, then race to catch up with Dad.

Another scenery shot.

As you approach Old Highway #91 on the backside of the Utah Hill the elevation is lower and more desert like.

Mirror pic.

For completeness, good to get a pic of the sign at the other end of the road as well.

Our bikes in late afternoon light.

A day or two later, I'm out solo on the Vulcan.

Found this bit of creative artwork on the back of building. Someone out there has a bit of talent.

Artwork is on the back of this building.

Pretty convincing sign. Can't argue with this logic. Bob is just trying to look out for us.

Cedar Pockets area of Virgin River Gorge. Didn't do any serious off-roading with the Vulcan. Just some very mild exploring, mostly checking on a few signs.

One of the signs.

Looking down on I-15. Very fun road for the right motorbike!

A few spots are almost like the Grand Canyon. At least the colors are similar.

Poking around under I-15 down by Littlefield, AZ. First "town" south of the Gorge. Makes Beaver Dam look big.

One final quick check on some dirt, then back home up through the Gorge.

As always, thanks inmates for all the comments. Ride safely out there!
