The best thing about the Prospector Pub is right across from it on the other side of the Kettle River is Byman's Bend RV Camping, about a 5 minute walk.

$8.95 what a great deal!
Binderdundat...

Awesome time other than a couple of drunken local pirates attempting to make repeated jabs at our "Jap bikes".

Food was pretty good and HUUUGE portions.

Prospector Pub - Rock Creek

And what about the atmosphere of the Kettle River while enjoying a refreshment from the deck. The owners have some incredible bird houses on the wood railing attracting lots of action.

Chef Big D's

One good spot that is close to the Lower Mainland is Chef Big D's on Cleveland Avenue in Squamish. When ordering a favourite is the Pastrami Sandwich.

Huevos rancheros at Kaslo's Bluebelle Bistro are very good. They also serve excellent coffee roasted locally in Nelson.

Great localy roasted coffee and huge, tasty muffins in Nelson's Dominion Cafe.

Excellent fish tacos at The Taco Hut on Cornwall St. in Kitsilano.

What we did find that was close to Balfour was The Village Bakery in Procter. Very tasty baked goods and the owner was friendly and quite helpful.

Dominion coffee is uber expensive (bring your own mug, otherwise add 25 cents to a cup). Some people like Grounded which is also dear. I don't get the Oso Negro thing...
Procter bakery (not in Balfour) is good. Taken a few years to get there though.
Balfour bakery is pretty good. Better when he is doing market day in Nelson than Balfour for some strange reason.

Biggest complaint with Nelson restaurants (other than being expensive) is zero consistency. Excellent one day, crap next. Have heard good things about the Funky Monkey (not tried it) but it is switching owners again for the third time so a crapshoot.

Very good Chinese food in Castelgar. Chopstix.

edit
Rock Creek Hotel. Always wondered about that place. Need to try. Cheers.

Bakers work at night,at least the ones not using them "Proof & Bake" frozen products. Might as well sell coffee and pastries at the same time.

Oso Negro! That's the name of the coffee they serve at the Bluebell Bistro in Kaslo.

That's some fine coffee, right there.

We stopped in to a little place somewhere near Cherryville on #6 this summer. A little cabin right on the side of the road (some sort of camp or something behind it).

I'm thinkin you're thinkin of the Gold Panner Cafe just past Cherryville. A favorite stop of mine on Sunday blast to the Needles Ferry and back.

Also on the Prospector Pub in Rock Creek.
