The wrap up

And then it was over .

After 13.5 days in the saddle I was stuffed and spent the next few days bumming around recovering before heading back to work and the daily grind. I had an absolute ball on the APC Rally and would highly recommend putting it on your bucket list.

A huge thanks must go out to:

Ian, who I was fortunate enough to ride with for most of the rally. Who without his 'Old Bull' wisdom and black sense of humour, I probably would have had a lot harder time making it to the finish. Maybe next time he'll have his Seniors card at the ready for a discount at Macca's for brekkie.

Greg, the Kiwi from middle of bum fuck nowhere Western Australia. Thanks mate, bloody great riding with you and being handed beers while doing the nightly maintenance. And top effort riding the Canning just to get to the start and then riding another 3-5 days to get home.

Kevin, who joined Ian and I for the run up to Birdsville. Thanks for the extra dust and good luck doing the Canning mate. Bugger about missing out on the Simpson, but there's always next year.

John Hudson, the idea's man, without which the APC Rally would never have been born. Thanks Hommer for all you early mornings and late nights supporting all of us while out there doing it. I think by the end of it most of us probably had referred to you as God at some point.

On a final note, if you're thinking of doing it, STOP thinking and start preparing!

I'll never say no to an opportunity to partake in the drinking of amber fluids.

Thanks for the write up.

The rally was such a great ride, and it was so good reliving it as I was reading. Cheers.

It was good to see a 'local' in the event & as such I started following your progress with interest & even rooting for your success by the end.

However when it came to your ride report, I checked out your photos, saw the mountain of words in your report & thought to myself, I can't be bothered reading all that stuff.

How wrong was I ......................... immediately sucked into your adventure, riding it with you, I couldn't put it down til the finish.

Excellent work Crom-o

Will be good to catch up for a or two & compare roos stories

Ride safe.

Cheers

Fantastic read mate. Really enjoyed the daily log style to it. Will have to go back and find these photos now because I was too busy reading to see the link to them.
Glad you had the guts to despatch the roo quickly. Had to do similar myself but was lucky enough he'd died before I got back to him. At least those Gerber knives are bloody sharp - it must have looked weird to your mate rolling up after the deed was done. Probably thought you're an axe murderer and would"ve slept with one eye open if it'd happened earlier in the ride. Must catch up soon for another beer or ride.
Well done mate. It was great following your progress every day with the Spot Tracker page and the thread updates.

Thanks for all the comments. I was a bit worried about how long winded it is, but I mainly wrote it for myself and for something to show the kids if I ever manage to get my leg over the missus.

I'll be at the Pooncarie/Top Hut run at the end of 28-30 Oct 11, so if you're out that way come and say G'Day, I'll be the fat bloke with at least one beer in his hands.
