Was a great trip, could have used a few more days though to really explore the route.

A few more pics

Gary and I ready to leave Hamilton

On the way to Woodstock to meet Scott and Gerry

Gerry in action. sand, sand, and more sand

Could have used a weed wacker but was getting late and needed to set up camp the first night. The coyotes were close through the night

Gary

We passed by a military training area where they blow stuff up according to Dave.

Nothing exciting happening at the time

Nice sideroad though the forest

Soldier Lake Park was the stop for day 2

where we ate, swam, and temporarily fixed Gary's bike

A file will not reshape a brake bad no matter how hard Dave tried

Day 3

Tunnels through the forest

And more sand roads, many of which were hard packed and high speed

Our first look at Lake Superior, we never did feel how cold the water was, too busy

This way Scott

Most of the week was great weather, hot and dry

mmmm, blueberries

This led us to the sand from hell for the big bikes

Back to the hard pack. Shortly after this Gary went his own route to search for brake pads

After meeting up with Gary again later in the day we went out for dinner

Iron ore mine at town of Palmer

Shortly after arrived at Camp Horseshoe, hot showers and concrete pads for the bikes

Cleaning the rotor

Scott healing

Interesting decor on the way to the campground

Some pics from Day 4

Stop production while the tourist takes a picture

Dave

We were never far from civilization but sure felt like it at times

This way - no that way -you can see Gerry's dust on the left in the distance, no stopping him once he got rolling

Eventually arrived in Houghton. I lost track of how many times we crossed this bridge for one reason or another - wrong way, lost Dave, Gerry's bus stop...

back on trail

Long way from home

Break time

Had to stop and take some bike pics

And eventually landing in Fort Wilkins State Park

Woke to nice weather and roads again. This was a recreational trail that went on forever

The newer green pipe above and the old wooden pipe below

The gang enroute to Gerry's doom

Powerline trail

The now famous rut on the left

Gerry hiking out in good spirits

And another shot of the Sunshine Motel, as said before they were a huge help, even picked up pizza for us so we didn't have to go out in the rain again

One of the highlights were the KTM orange sheets in the room

And that pretty much ended day 5 after getting Gerry patched up and put a plan into place for the next day

Few more pics from day 6

Gassed up and ready to go two up to Houghton so Gerry can get to the bus stop. Not easy to catch a bus in these parts.

Waiting at the lift bridge

After all the details were sorted out and Dave and I met up with Scott and Gary after lunch (they took care of their tires) we were back on track. Gerry missed some good riding

Eventually ended up at Horseshoe Camp again

The next day took us through some more nice areas

Target practice

Top of Lake Michigan

The Mackinac Bridge. Back to the lower penninsula

Back on high speed sand roads through the forests

At the equestrian camp

Not much else from the last day. Rode an almost 700km mix of gravel and pavement south to Dave's place, across the border and home.

Big thanks to Cannonshot for posting the tracks for us to use
