We are thinking Italy, a bit later in the year, and further south than we have been before. Rentals near Rome perhaps? A crisscross of the Apennines with a a trip to Tuscany of course (sadly missed last year).

Let the maps be brought out and the planning begin!

Maps ? You still use maps ? Must be because MS is crap

lovely report. Some great pics and vids. It's been a few years since i was down that way and looking at all those photos and the passes, it's not going to be too long before i head back that way.
Thanks for sharing.

Greg and Michelle: Thanks for a wonderful report, and espically the "how much does it cost" info. There must be something about Stelvio; the last time I was there, I sent a postcard to my long lost love, telling her that I had never forgotten her, and re-kindled a thirty year old love affair.
Also, on the shot coming into Andermatt, you can see the construction cranes of the massive "theme park" resort being put up by an Egyptian billionaire, which many fear will ruin Andermatt. I thought maybe the worldwide economic downturn would have put a wrench in the works, but I guess not.
I'm glad to see that you stopped in Varenna and did the "passerela" or evening stroll through town. It's a wonderfully romantic spot. Best wishes on into the future, and I'll keep an eye out for you on the roads through the Alps.

Day 3 of a 10 day trip.... any girl who can attack the Stelvio with a smile on her face and say "let's do it again! more mountains!" is the one!

could have been a long ride after that if it had all gone pear-shaped... but it didn't (in hindsight I was pretty confident.. at the time I was very nervous)

This in not a motorcycle tour, it is a BUS tour, where you pay for your own gas and get wet when it rains

Awesome! I am thinking of doing something like this for our honeymoon. Ill look up the rates for bike rentals. Well most likely ride 2-up.
