KLR650 Aftermarket Plastic

I find it odd that no one offers aftermarket plastic for the KLR650. I am trying to get a quote on an injection mold cast for 08+ KLR 650 shrouds; I'd probably have to produce a couple thousand to see a payoff, so I'm just wondering what kind of interest there is for a reasonably priced aftermarket shroud, say around $50-60.

Rather see it for pre 08 models, and it seems like it would be a bigger seller to freshen up a 15 year old bike than a 4 yr old bike.

I usually just buy a fresh can of Krylon Fusion when I want to make her look new again

I'd be interested in Plastic for '08+ bikes. That fiberglass crap is annoying.

I'd like to buy new plastics when I get a Britannia fairing, but not when a rad shroud costs $80 a side and side panels are about the same.

If someone is going to reproduce these plastics, I hope they use a different plastic that doesn't turn to dust after a couple of years of sunlight. I could probably scratch through my side covers with my fingernail. Bummer too, since the rest of the bike looks sooooo good.

I received some good news from a local plastic manufacturer today, it looks like this might be very possible to get some plastics produced. I'm working on getting a website up and running and I'll post a link when its complete. Diggin' the feed back keep it coming.

I'd be interested in some 2008+ plastic, but not if it looked exactly like the stock stuff. If you can make something new than hit refresh and give people an option for a different looking KLR. That would widen your market as folks who have bikes with parts in good condition have an incentive to swap in your stuff. Especially as a lot of people complain about the styling of the 2008+ KLR.

Only if it mimics the design of BMW plastics, so the KLR riders with the faux BMX badges can really pull one over.

OTBplastics.com

I've started a site that will hopefully be the base for getting some aftermarket plastics made if you are interested in seeing some plastic in the future I encourage everyone to visit it and take the survey so I can get an idea what people are interested in. Maybe '07 and previous plastic is in more demand? Check it out: www.otbplastics.com

Its a little simple right now, just give it timehttp://d26ya5yqg8yyvs.cloudfront.net/clap.gif

Fixed.

An affordable source for plastics would be great. I'd love to dump my faded, scratched 2000 plastic (on my 99) and replace it with some new stuff.

I voted yes finally but want to add 08+ to the comment. If you made the plastic durable rather than what is currently used it would be great.
