I'm interested in exhaust, suspension, and engine/FI/ECU mods myself. If we can get more performance and fun w/o killing economy, that'd be sweet.

No it's not a turbo increase in power. Never said it was.

That plus a 15 tooth CS would get you close to Wee Strom acceleration. Or not.
It's not a big deal, but it is what it is. Like I said, a nice boost for a great bike.
I wasn't aware that the 'PC' adds power.
It just makes the delivery different, removes the flat spots etc.

Even 3hp (edit: for exhaust) is IMHO optimistic on the NC, and there's no "extra juice" beyond
the current red line, it's been discussed so many times in this thread already.

3hp airbox? Again optimistic.

Seriously? What do you think it does, improve exhaust smell?
What do you think going from an EPA mandated strangled 14.3 AFR to an optimum 13.4 AFR does?

The dyno charts I've seen show around a 5% power increase for the PCV alone.

On the 48.5bhp NC700 that would be around 2.5bhp increase to 51bhp just for the PCV.
Of course everybody knows that the best results are achieved when you do air, fuel and exhaust upgrades together.

Look, if uncorking a bike isn't for you fine. You know what's best for you.
But for those who want some more get up and go, it's there.

Adding power gains together is flawed, yes, they made those gains individually, but in my experience all of those together isn't simple addition. Just saw that report yesterday. I'm still on the fence since my 77 mpg estimated CBR250R only returns 50 mpg with me on it. I'd hate to drop 7k on the 700x and only get 42 mpg or something silly. I wonder if anybody is renting them yet?

Between the warm up and faster riding, my mileage has dropped this winter. I know the CalSci windshield and luggage didn't help either.
When it warms up, I expect it to be in the 70-75 mpg range again.
No tank under under 50 mpg mpg yet, I can live with it.

I commute 40 miles a day,year round.My commute is 60% freeway and 40% stop and go.I average about 37 mpg on my DL1000.We are riding up to Deadhorse in June and getting 60+ would save me over $250 just on that trip ( I can get 42 mpg's max on the DL ).

I also commute year around(barring ice/snow) I saved 230 gallons in fuel over my pick-up. That's close to a grand so far.
I convert the saved fuel dollars to my NCX expenses, luggage and gear.
I still spend about the same money, but I have something to show for it this way.

From the experience of our (big) forum riders you can go twisty roads with fun starting at around 3l/100km with the manual clutch version. For regular use of all kinds you will average in between 3l/100km and 4l/100km. With DCT I have an average of 3,6l/100km. Even at a ride where I did more than 40km of full throttle riding (GPS spd up to 182km/h) it stayed below 4l/100km for that tank fill up.

Racetrack riders report, it would stay under 6l/100km for absolut full throttle riding.
Several tests confirmed, it will take 4.3l/100km when riding at 130km/h constantly.

These values are quite realistic. So, for commuting at 80km/h-100km/h the manual clutch version will stay a little over 3l/100km, max. 3.5l/100km, depending on riding style, road characteristics and traffic circumstances. The DCT will take slightly more, but not a lot.

Yes, I'm aware of that, but I just think it doesn't make sense on THIS bike
since if you need these few HP more so desperately you bought the wrong bike.
It's made for great fuel economy and low down torque.

Buying a Versys or a 650R for about the same money gives you a LOT more.

In all honesty, the NC700X feels closer in perfomance to my "uncorked"
30hp scooter then to my ex Ninja 650, and reading the specs it should
sit right between the two.

The 650R is A LOT faster.

The NC700X is a great package, I wouldn't touch anything on it, I just with
it was lighter (but it does feel a lot lighter then it is). Not much you can do
about that I guess.. other then the exhaust.

Light wheels are a huge investment.

On the other hand, going lighter would make the fuel economy even better,
and all your mods would probably make the bike return the MPG figures of
the already mentioned Versys/650R, and still wouldn't be nearly as fast.
