Do you still have to buy the "automatic" transmission to get ABS?

Yes, but Honda dropped the price $500 on the 2013 NC700X DCT from $9K to $8.5K.

Except for the larger front wheel.........many have gotten close to the style and function of the bike pictured.

I have owned both a Transalp and NC.........just completed a 200 mile gravel road ride........I will ride the NC in every condition the Transalp was used. The smaller front tire has not been a concern so far.

Good to know.
BTW: The front and rear are from an XR650 with stock NC front brake. Fender coming soon.

this is probably 205, and if it is I apologize - but I want to know how the NC700X performs in 0-60 mode. I seem to remember reading somewhere that it was taking over 5 seconds. I don't know if that was a manual version or the dct version in D mode.

Mrs. B. has said that I should get a lighter bike, and this one and the CTX700 are on the short list. On the other hand, some folks seem to think it is "boring". Is this my father's Oldsmobile?

It is boring getting 63mpg commuting and almost 80mpg on the highway, and having the torque of a deisel engine!!.
I traded in my DL1000 for the NCX and not looked back!!.It's a really fun bike to ride upto about 80mph,then the fun kinda go's away.I ride around 65mph on the highway so the lack of power up top doesn't bother me a bit .
And with my 2 gallon RotoPax I have a highway fuel range of about 450 miles.

It feels much lighter than it is.. To me it feels like a trials bike with all the weight down low. Last weekend I did 150 miles of TN back roads and mountains and still got 71 MPG. I was on the Dragon (Deals Gap) a couple weeks ago riding with a friend (he was on a DL650). I was in 2nd and 3rd gear right at redline most of the time and he was impressed with how well it ran.
