To mimic what everyone else said, it is loud, make sure you are going downhill with a tailwind and have about 10 miles when you need to pass someone, and the gas mileage is extremely bad (we get 13-15 mpg, but we are running 35's). I would hate to have it as a daily driver. That said, it brings a smile to my face every time we take it off road. When the weather is nice and the top is off, I will actually try to wake up early to grab the keys before my wife is ready to go. In the winter, it is my go to vehicle since my car is not very snow friendly. In other words, the enjoyment we gain from it far outweighs the disadvantages. |

We have had the Jeep for a couple of months now. We are really enjoying it. I am thinking of selling my Camry and just driving the Jeep when I am not on the scoot. I only drive about 150 miles a week by myself. The rest of the time is spent in the Suburban with the family so it would be no big deal to drive the jeep. I just wish it had more storage space.

![]() In all seriousness, they seem to be pretty damn solid and as long as the "tippy" feeling isn't an issue, then you've clearly made a good choice. LOTS of factory workers drive them, so I generally consider that a good sign. Glad you're enjoying your new Jeep and helping to keep the locals here employed!

I loved mine, but it was also a CJ-5 which they don't make anymore.
These Jeeps roll easily. It was never an issue for me, because with some common sense one can feel when a vehicle is being pushed too far. For some reason people think these things can do anything, and simple physics prevents that. After having it for years, I developed a bit of a heavy foot because I'd have to have it floored to try and keep up with highway traffic. I didn't always succeed, but I had fun trying. I'll have to scan in an old picture of it soon. Mechanically, I never had any issues with it. But then I also had to lock in the 4-wheel drive manually on the front tires. This was in the 80's.

Quadratec and 4wd Hardware- look there for all your Jeep Xmas junk.
I've had 4- '74 CJ5, '79 CJ7, an '87 Wrangler, and a '97 Wrangler. Doubt you get winters like we do, but I was never able to back the heat down. Had to always keep it running full bore just to keep it tolerable inside on really cold nights. Then you could never hear the radio .4 kids! - if their young you gotta get a four door Unlimited- they'll love it. Your new red one looks nice- take the worthless plastic end caps off the front and rear bumpers, get some new fender flares, they should be black, not grey ( my '97 did the same thing). |

I just bought a '98 TJ from an inmate. 4 cyc. 5 speed and it is my DD now. the Silverado sits. 18MPG on the Interstates and 20/21 mpg on the country roads. Rough ride, noisy (shit can the radio), and you'll wish you had the full metal doors with roll down windows. Great fun... Enjoy.
