Heya!

Glad to hear that your Tool Tube (TM) is holding up well. Must be that some of those welded on tabs are beefy, and others are not. Of course you more than most should know about production line variability in welding.

By the way, did you ever see the conduit clamp idea? Some call them adel clamps. Just a couple of properly sized conduit clamps thrown over the subframe, with the holes lined up with the tabs, and you got yourself a safety.

I was working on finding clamps that would work with the bike, and was close, but then got waylaid by a pickup truck for a spell; I am almost healed up now. For sure the rally skidplate project faded away - not even sure if it is still on your radar or long forgotten. Anyways, if you are interested in any of this stuff let me know.

I should have patented this idea. They sell these for 19.99 on ebay now? Go make yourself one for cheap.

Didn't you see the thread with the Tool Tube Achilles Heel? A subframe misalignment will make the tube rub on the tire. It may not fall off, but the tire will rub a hole thru the tube, releasing it's contents. Whether they fall out and jam your rear wheel or not (and you loose you shit) it'd suck.

I removed mine...

Huh, Meat. Mine has been beat to crap and still goes great. The orange paint tells me if the tire rubs. You need to use the bracket like I have so it has clearence. My 640 has 12000 miles now. Most of it is dirt.

Ah, a bracket for clearance - that'd help.
