Weak points? Parts easy to get?
The deal on the '01 Sherco 290 fell through when the price went up $500. I'm still interested in a semi modern trials bike.

Things to check--Kickstarter-is it tight on shaft? is it smooth through through stroke? Linkage and swingarm ,are they smooth, tight, quiet? Then normal stuff like wheelbearings, spokes, airbox and the question does it look like it was taken care of? How many owners? That is a start.

Check trans oil for milky color. This indicates a worn waterpump seal and shaft. If you find this condition, chances are the clutch plates will need replacing also. Overall a really tough machine. I just finished fixing up one for my wife to ride. It suffered from years of neglect at my brothers hands but it still runs like a champ. Needed linkage bearings/wheel bearings and waterpump repair kit. Top end has never been apart. I think the older GG engines are much more robust than the current Pro series ( Don't ask me how I know :-((
