Bosnia, Montenegro & Croatia 2013 two-up LC4A (newbie RR)

I bought LC4 ADVenture last winter with an intention to do some rally and off-road stuff in my country. I knew that the bike was capable of some „long“ distance stuff too but not sure about the two-up thing. What happened after few adrenaline off-road events is that I felt like I wanted to take things a bit easier and try to travel a bit with my girlfriend Caroline – although never have crossed borders of the Czech Republic on a bike before.

Quick look at the map of Europe & some ride reports and the goal has been set. Bosnia and Montenegro here we go.

What I knew about those countries is that you can find some beautiful mountain roads, valleys, rivers etc. there but plenty of guesthouses and restaurants too. Ideal place for our first trip – the more adventurous part for me, warm and dry bed for my girlfriend, haha. Another important thing that made be go there is that these countries are inexpensive which was great for our very limited budget (CZK 25 000 = USD 1 250 including all expenses for both of us).

I could take two weeks off as I’m an employee in a factory so I had to squeeze all in that time. We’ve done it between end of August 2013 and beginning of September 2013. Planned route was something between 3500 – 4000 km’s.

Did I mention this was my first trip ever but a first ride report ever written too? Please be patient with me as English is not my mother tongue

Beautiful part of the world, I look forward to the ride report!

I think GB must like lamb... our esteemed moderator usually waits until there is a motorcycle picture to comment.

Day 1, Tuesday August 20th

Day 1, Tuesday August 20th

I finish the work at about 3PM in order to tune the last details and we could go from Kutna Hora, the place where I live which you can know as a city with the Church of Bones from the Long Way Roung, to our destination which is a small village near the border with Germany (Bavaria) and the National Park Sumava. My mother & brother live there. Caroline comes to my place and we try to pack up our side pannier which is just 38 litres and we need to squeeze all our clothes and personal stuff in that. Another pannier is filled by tools, oils, etc. and some food, camping gas, maps and so. We have a big roll on the top in which we have a tent, sleeping bags and sleeping pads. I dont own a tank bag yet but I managed to make it from a camera bag. I carry there the SLR camera obviously and some other small electronics. Well I must we had to pack light and Im glad for that! It does not happen to majority of newbies we used everything we were carrying on the bike!

Our adventure can start, we managed to actually sit on the bike but there comes a big STOP. Caroline is hungry which is a big show stopper and we could not afford to go like that! We went for a nice burger at the Kutna Hora main square and finally afterwards /at 6 PM/ we gave it a green. We went about 3 hours to my mothers place. It was getting dark and chilly. Caroline got her first concerns about the trip because the ride was so uncomfortable. Quite soon I think for myself. I pulled over that she could go to the house and I went to see my mate Jan which was so kind and borrowed me a GoPro camera. Before I got to the house it was 10:30 PM already, we had some chat with the family and we knew that our plan to start early in the morning is not much realistic.

We covered 207 kms / totally 207 kms

At the Kutna Hora main Square - after some yummy burger (no food picture this time - too hungry for that)

Now we can go! After you're done watching that cutie have a look how the bike was loaded. Not much space for two-up.

Hi Clive,

thanks for following the report, you will find some similar places that you have been to The difference is just that you make the long story short but I do short story long
