Also, for those with crash bars, some guys are chucking the bolts over the battery, and changing them to studs. I am going to do this on my next oil change; it should make remounting much easier.

I'd love more on this. mine were a bitch to get on to the point were they almost never made it back on... and yes my tanks were distorted AND I had the rear breather hose pinched.

I agree.

I recently did some work that required the tanks to be off. I took several days to do the project, but each night put the tanks back on (just the top and rear bolts, and a strap between the bottom mounting holes.

When it came time to button it up, everything went together without a problem.

I should mention that I use E10 exclusively.
