Saving Threads To Files?
In preparation for an upcoming Mexico/Baja trip, I've been experimenting with saving a few, whole treads to my laptop from good trip reports to Mexico.
Using a PC with Windows XP with Explorer.
My choices for File Type when I choose File/Save As are:
#1. Web Page, complete
#2. Web Archive, single file
#3. Web Page, HTML only
#4. Text file.
#1 I tried #1 but it saves 1 big file with the text, and then creates a directory for any images and puts all of the individual images in there. If I open the 1 big file it seems to work okay. It is a regular HTML file and it seems to know where/when to insert the images. The only downside is the new directory with all of the small images.
#2 Seems to work fine. It puts ALL of the original trip report including images in one huge file that ends in a .MHTML label. It also seems to work fine and has no separate directory with images. Just one big file about 8.37 Mb!
#3. Creates one single .HTML file. Only 221Kb in size in my example. But it seems to capture the same stuff as #3 in a very small space. How is this possible?
#4. Makes on big .TXT file. Loses all images. But the size is very small. Nice if you just want the written information and don't need the images. about 80K
The trip report I experiemented was This One
1. Is there any preferred method?
2. Right now it seems that I like #2 best but #3 appears to be the same only it is a lot smaller in size. How can this be?
The idea is to capture these to my laptop and take it on my trip with me. Calling up salient facts from other's experiences as I move my way down the peninsula.
Thanks for any words of wisdom.
