For a taco, very nice. The form is great, full hand grip in the corners. Taco cap would of been a nice touch. Found a picture of me a while back on a `71 cota in a section with just a montesa english cap on circa 1973. Have been catching hell from the new riders of lack of helmet. I just keep showing them what `vintage trials` was about.

I'm a noob to this stuff but I'm going to take a look at a '79 Sherpa T 350 tomorrow. Anything I should be on the lookout for? The fellow's asking $2200 for it and from the pictures it looks pretty clean. What would be a reasonable price? Yeah, I'm a noob. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Look at the same things you'd look at on any 30+ year old bike, which would be everything.
For a complete, ready to ride, competition worthy bike, I'd think that price is reasonable.

Just bought my first trials bike in over 20 years..
Thought I would have a go at a few twin shock trials events..
77 Cota 348..ment to have had a motor rebuild 500km ago.
500km?.. still got the speedo on the fork so its possable..
It's just missing the air box. So if anyone know where I might
pick one up ?..
Bit of work ahead of me to get it tided up
Cost me $1100NZ = $860US seems to be a good buy..

Very purdy!

Did you explore all the neat vintage Trials businesses in the UK for an airbox?

Pete-NZ, she's a beauty. I rode my share of 348's back in the day. It's a great bike. Yours looks to be in very good condition. A little love and she'll be right. Even the bottom frame rails are not bashed. You should be able to find an airbox. Try Jed at www.southwestmontesa.com in the USA. You'll need a petcock and the rubber tank straps.

I would replace the MX throttle with a proper trials type. Make sure to grease the headstock, swing arm and wheel bearings. the grease will be gone. Careful with the headstock bearings are not caged and will fall everywhere, best to have someone help you and catch them with a pan as they fall. Also change the fork oil. It will be nasty.
