Other options if i remember correctly will included weather and traffic data plan that uses your cell phone to pull data. This will be a pay option.
Damn. I was hoping not to want one of these, but with these features, I'm in!

Nav V

Bill is the man. Ordered mine minutes ago.

Only bummer is that for the 013 you need the new cradle. Oh well its just money.

Pleasure speaking to you today Bruce. Thanks for the kind words. I enjoy talking to fellow riders. Dont get to podt on here as much as I would like. Took home our demo liquid cooled GS tonight and it has really made me enjoying riding again.

It is exciting to see what Garmin and BMW have done to update the NAV V and from the looks of it they really have added some interesting features. As I mentioned earlier weather and traffic will be available via a cell phone app located in the apple store or the droid play store.. Some options are free some are pay. You will also be able to search for a destination on you phone and send it tp the Nav V for turn by turn directions.

The custom route feature has also be greatly enhanced with more waypoints allowed.

The integration with the bike currently only on the liquid cooled GS is pretty trick. For example if you get a fault light in some cases it will explain what the fault light is actually indicating. For instance it will tell you what bulb is burned out.

With the popularity of smartphones Garmin is trying to stay relavent. With the Nav V I think they will continue to sell GPSs.

I have 30 Nav Vs scheduled to arrive tomorrow should have plenty to go around. PM me on here with your contact info. Either myself of one of my guys will give you a call. Or call us at the store. 7326350094 If no one answers leave a message we are experiencing a high volume of calls but we do check the messages regularly and will call you back.

Thanks

The Nav V doesn't fit in the BMW GPS prep cradle on the GS-W, does it? Even with the buttons?

The nav v will fit the bracket but not the cradle. If your GSW came with the gps preparation you will have to purchase the Nav V kit with the cradle which retails for 899. Going forward most model year 14 GSWs that have the GPS prep option will come with the Nav V cradle and you will be able to purchase the Nav V without the cradle which retails for 799.

According to reports from people in Germany who already have the Nav V, it will fit the cradle that is mounted on the GSW. The connectors are supposed to be identical.

Edit: if by cradle you mean the one with 4 buttons and with bracket the one that is installed on the 2013 GS LC, that might be.

I was at the dealer and he kind of confirmed your observation. No additional part numbers were shown as being required for the Nav V to fit the LC's hardware mounts.

This is exactly the case model year 13 or older with GpS prep will accept the Nav V 4 button cradle. The nav v unit will not fit into the 4 button cradle designed for the nav iv.

Okay, so we are saying the same: for the K50 (2013 R1200GS) and the K48 (K1600) you don't need a new cradle, just the Navigator itself. For bikes that have the 4 Button cradle you need a new one that fits the new contour.

Btw, here are some screenshots (and lots of German text):

Will the NAV 5 connect to my iPhone via Bluetooth and my Scala G9 via Bluetooth simultaneously and allow me to play music from my iPhone? Sounds like a dumb question but one must ask.

I wonder when they will have the Australian maps?

One german dealer is pissing of a lot of european dealers. They sell online and offer a reasonable discount 599 for the Nav V.

I should hear what my dealer asks for it.
