No idea what mount or wiring is on your kid's bike, but here are screen shots from my Nav V generated when mounted with a Nav V mount on my early 2013 R1200GSW.

Emoto,
I get the same results on my 2013 GSW except on the last motorcycle status and last ride analyzer I must remove the GPS from the cradle to get these pages. It this the same on your bike?

I can't remember. It is like 20 degrees here and I haven't ridden in weeks. Sorry.

I am thinking it is a Nav IV mount, which just happens to look exactly the same as the Nav V mount on my 2014 but is, in fact, wired differently. In any event, the V worked flawlessly on my ride today (went to SIL's place to get all the crud and salt off the bike in the relative comfort of his man cave). Other than the "My Motorcycle" stuff, the V seemed to otherwise work OK on his 13 but I didn't have time to fully test it as I wanted to get back before it started snowing again.

Certainly possible. . My mount came with the bike as the "GPS prep" thing.

I wish the V had XM radio. I know some won't pay for radio, but i will. I have a opportunity to buy a new 14 GSA next week.... I have a 665 with xm and weather, and would likely just use it.

I do like the added info on the V, and makes me think about loading a bunch of mp3 files and save $160, a year on service..

There are a lot of us who prefer to have our own music files on board (i.e., on a cellphone, BT iPod or GPS unit) rather than XM. Personally, I prefer to keep tunes on the phone as the Nav V doesn't have a headphone plug-in (that I know of) for when you want to music off the bike.

I also would like it if the Nav-V had XM Radio, and while I do keep hundreds of MP3's on the unit, on long rides it would be nice to listen to the news, a ball game or even just some different random music.
My BT headset (Interphone F5XT) is great and has built-in FM stereo but it's fidgety and stations are non-existent in many places.

I believe you can get XM internet radio on the iPhone, which is where I keep my tunes. Don't know about other smart phones.

I didn't do a thing. I hooked up the Nav V to the bike and that's what showed up.

Yes, but it plays via the Internet, which is of little use when in areas that are void of 4G, 3G, phone service and even AM/FM radio.
Plus, I don't own an iPhone (my 15 year old daughter does), I have a real phone.

The mount is the problem. When I first got my GSW I tried using the Nav IV mount instead of the mount of the GPS prep option. No Integration in spite of being plugged into the original connection. I surmised the GPS Prep mount has additional electronics that enable bike integration. You have to use the GPS prep mount from the factory with either the Nav IV or Nav V to get bike integration.

Now that I have the Nav V more integration is enjoyed such as the bike and ride reports.

His 2013 came with the GPS prep mount for the Nav IV from the factory.

That you can't get phone service in places would seem to be a problem, much like places where you can't get sat coverage. Frankly, I haven't had much problems with either but then my phone isn't as real as yours.

I misunderstood, I thought the 4 button cradle was being used. If you are using the factory supplied cradle (no buttons with key lock) there is a different problem.

Ah ok, I'll scroll round more. I've not been out on the GS since it arrived, so will have a fiddle in the garage!
