Bad behavior at youth sports events
So today I am at the footbal field watching my daughter, she is a cheer leader in the local youth football association. Durring the first half our team was leading 18-0. I left for about 15 minutes worth of game time. When I returned the other team was up 27-18. What happened? I sat down and the other team continued to score. By the last 5 minutes the score was 40ish to our 18. Our coach call in the mercy rule. The very next play one of our kids is laying on the ground and four coaches are going absolutly crazy!
As it turns out, our player had a pucture wound in the area of his abdomen. While coaches are going crazy the police and EMS are called. I thought for sure one of our coaches was going to get ejected! A few moments later both teams are told to leave the field by the officials. Meanwhile the kid on the ground tells the people on the field who are tending to him that #80 (or whatever his number was) had stuck him with a pencil!! One of the officials did pick up a pencil in the area of the last play. Rumor has it that 3-4 kids from the other team were found with pencils tucked in their uniforms as they were being escorted off the field. This was a just a local little leage game being played by 12&13 year olds. I thought I'd seen bad behavior from parents but really, a kid trying to stab another kid? I don't know who brought the pencils on the field but I'm not sure how much more stupid of a thing could happen. Any one care to add to the stupidity? |

During my 20 years as a youth and high school football official, I saw some disgusting stuff along those lines.

That's nasty, how can people sink so low?
I'm certain here in Southern California neither team would be playing for at least the next two years. |

I coached T-ball/baseball for several years when my kids were young and I've seen some crazy shit.
The worst is when a grown up loses it and assaults a youngster. I've seen more than one or two arrests subsequent to this type of behavior over the years.

Seriously, what do you guys expect? Sports stars are treated like untouchable gods, they can do or say ANYTHING, the rules of society don't apply to them, when it's too blatant to be completely ignored their punishment consists of a slap on the wrist. These kids are just following in their idols footsteps.

I ref ice hockey from youth up to college and the parents behavior is just insane. That includes the parents of the college kids.
Thankfully I haven't had any bad experiences myself but many folks I know have. I feel bad for the kids.

This just in! The local news got a hold of it. Here is a linky for your enjoyment.
http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/29477459/detail.html According to a person who was present when the police questioned one of the kids, a Taylor kid told the officer that he did have a pencil. Oh shit for that kid, this is way beyond a 15 yard penalty now. The latest rumor from some of the other teams is that they thought their kids were getting poked during their match against Taylor too. |

Down river is not in or part of detroit and yeah, I still am suprised.
The offenders are not the stereo typical "detroit" types that usually make the news. |

My daughter plays competitive "club" soccer here in So Cal. Soccer parents are fucktards too, but the referees can penalize the team for bad parent behavior and stop the game until the parent leaves the field. Sadly I have seen them do this. It does however seem to keep things from getting too out of hand. When my son played little league baseball the parents would yell at the refs and the kids and each other until fights broke out. It was pathetic.
