Maggno, I am keen to joint the March ride. Is it possible to have a chat prior and get some advice on what's needed. I would join in around Charters and head home from Julia Creek.
You can PM me your number or l can send you mine

New to NQ (Sort of)

Hi there to CQ/NQ riders. I moved to Sarina about 18 months ago and haven't been for a ride yet. My last ride was the Cameron Corner for the Scrapheap Challange 2011

Keen to meet new people and join in with weekend rides as well as the occasional longer ride.

The weather isn't great for riding at the moment and I have prior commitments for march so I would like to start now and talk to people about weekend rides for April and beyond.

Am self contained and happy to bush camp, country pub - what ever!!

Any takers??

Leaving Proserpine on Sat 16th March. No real fixed route as you never know which roads are closed that time of year and which rivers are up.

The rough plan is.

Proserpine - Colinsville - Scartwater Road - Pentland - The Lynd - Croydon - Normanton - Karumba - Burke & Wills - Julia Creek - Muttaburra - Clermont - Proserpine.

But we'll see how far we get. Looking to get back on the 29th March.

All back dirt roads with as little blacktop as possible Nothing hard core unless it rains on those Black Plains...

So if anyone wants to join us for the trip or part of it you're more than welcome.

Min fuel range 400km. Suitable for any bike including the big heavy ones, as long as you have knobbies. We're not planning on staying at any flash joints along the way. Maybe a shower in Karumba.. Just bush camping every night.
I'm working out at Longreach for March... might tag along for some of the trip as you go past.... ???

Any jetski riders?

Anyone on here who also rides a jetski?
I would be keen to get out & tour the whitsunday islands with other riders.
Cheers.

Don't forget the gear or you will get a nice fine.

Safety equipment

PWC's get some concessions on safety equipment. They do not have to carry a fire extinguisher or anchor and line. Within 400 metres offshore, they do not have to carry distress flares. However people onboard a PWC are required to wear a personal floatation device whilst they are operating the craft. Every person on board a PWC must wear a personal flotation device (PFD) at all times:
  • within protected waters or 400 metres of the shore in unprotected waters it can be a PFD Type 1, 2, or 3;
  • between 400 metres and two nautical miles from shore in unprotected waters a PFD Type 1 must be worn. You must also carry an inshore distress flare kit, in serviceable condition;
  • between two and five nautical miles, a PFD Type 1 must be worn. You must also carry an inshore distress flare kit and an EPIRB; and
  • vessels under 3.75 metres are not permitted more than five nautical miles off shore.

camping spots?

Gudday guys,
Is there anywhere good to camp roughly half way between Emerald and Mackay?? I've got some friends keen to camp who live in Mackay and I'm in Emerald. Be nice to meet them halfway... Suggestions? They are car drivers..

Oh... and the Husky is FINALLY done... Looking to ride... As soon as the Boss decides where and when I'm gunna be!! :-)

Halfway between Dysart and St Lawrence. About twenty km west of Lotus Ck on the old Marlborough/ Sarina rd. There's also Theresa ck dam at Clermont. There's another dam north of Moranbah on the glendon rd but can't think of the name.
