It's sort of like driving down the freeway and trying to keep from looking at the accident in the other lane. You know you shouldn't do it but your eyes are dawn to the horror of it all.

Just for y'all:

1:40 on the road and no idiots. Lots of polite people.

There's got to be something y'all can contribute. If not here, then in the Bicycle Thread

Bicycles out in the country doing their own personal tour de suburb aren't a big fucking deal. You slow down and wait, then go around them.

The pleasure rider / errand runner in an urban setting is a comparative fucking disaster. Half the dumb fucks ride on the sidewalk, so you don't see them and then BAM! crossing the street. Or they just ride the wrong way down a one-way, ignore all traffic control signs and signals, and are the most entitled suckers of cock this side of a prius.

I don't notice this with commuters during rush hour, probably because they know if they fuck up they're going to get hit.

The only good thing about all the bicycles riding like asshats in this town is that I can lane split and sorta blend in.

Now that's funny.

Sick. ...but funny!

I've been in a barbed wire fence. It sucks. I feel for both of em.

No!

I am also an avid bicyclist,

Could have fooled me with your BS posts...

but if I want to go on line and read and post about bicyclists, I do it on a bicycling forum.

Two questions come to mind...
1: Why then has this thread gone for over 100 pages since this is not a bicycling thread?
2: Why post to this thread to prolong your agony?

I used to enjoy reading Perfect Line because it encompassed interesting posts from many folks whose topic did not easily fit in other threads.

Sorry your ADV experience has been tainted by such an outlandish thread. If you don't like it start your own website.

Not so much any more.
Please take your self-serving, vapid comments and go away.
Why don't you heed your own advise there sport!

An hour on the road today and only 1 sorta idiot. She passed me to get to the stop sign first. I understand why*, but still. I don't have to slow down till 5m before the line. Unlike a car/SUV

No major hassles otherwise.

M

*so they can go first at the stop instead of waiting for me

Never assume a bicyclist will obey a stop sign.

I've learned to treat bicycle riders just like Deer. They are totally unpredictable and never signal their intentions.

As much as I hate to, normally, I'd agree. ...but in this case, I was coming into a T intersection. From the vertical part of the T onto the top. The top is a fairly busy (for Nokesville) road. Fence on one side. Fence on the other side. Fast moving traffic = always stop.

I've seen just as many stupid stunts as y'all have. Which pisses me off even more 'cause every stinkin car that sees it thinks I'm about to do the same thing.

On the way home yesterday, as we approached a right turn, I was in a line of cars that passed a cyclist maybe 100 yards prior to the light itself. I was about sixth in a line of cars.

As we approached the light, the car behind me immediately started getting a little hinky - he moved over to block about half the shoulder of the road. The five cars in front of me made the right turn - most didn't stop. I don't care about that. It's a t-intersection and all the traffic is from the right. At this intersection, about 85% of the cars do turn right also to go into the Foothills.

Generally speaking, the majority of cyclists go straight on this road through the light to continue on Pecos. I've never seen a cyclist run it. It'sonly activated by traffic approaching from our right and it's quick to change back to green.

As I came to the light, I knew the cyclist was coming up so I simply sat there and waited on him. If I had made the turn, the guy behind me would have right-hooked the cyclist. I have no doubt he was doing his best to beat him esp. since he started blowing his horn and had already moved onto half of the shoulder.

Didn't matter - literally 2 second later, the cyclist came up and made the same turn. That was a surprise since most cyclists go straight but waiting was absolutely the right thing to do. The cyclist knew what I was doing and raised his hand in thanks. When I made the turn and caught him seconds later, he raised his hands in thanks again.

That entire episode took maybe 20 seconds in total. No drama, no issues, no one delayed except one asshole with a horn.

I think every cyclist should carry a video camera - it would encourage cyclists to behave and if there's a collision, the cyclist would have what's needed to prosecute the motorist.

Good article on that subject here.
