Oddly enough I had no trouble passing any of the bikes, or the chase cars. Even on curvy Rt50.

I'd not heard of the RAAM before this. Interesting stuff :) I love the concept.

You should. The overall winner and record holder is Christoph Strasser. Wanna guess where he's from?

Thanks for passing nicely! We finished on Friday so it wasn't me. Heading back to not so humid Cali today.

I saw that, but I'm an expat Englishman - and we have zero winners. Austrians are mad cyclists though, so I'm not surprised. Yesterday I met an almost 80 year granny old riding from Passau to Wien - that's almost 300km..at her age and she's only taking 4 days...although she did admit, with some embarrassment, that was wasn't camping...

I can only hope to be that active at her age.

Team 426. This was my 8th time participating in RAAM. I wasn't riding this year though. I crew chiefed for a friend. Racing is much easier! I'll be back next year racing again.

I'd love to just bicycle across the US, actually racing and finishing the RAAM is something I'll never get the chance to do.
Still saw several racers this morning in the 0 dark 30 riding along.

Much respect to anyone who finishes this race, no matter where you place. Most people in this country have not even driven across it, let alone cycled it.

Half of my mail ends up there.

FWIW if you ever post anything to Austria, it's best to add "Europe" to the address - unless you want to confuse an Aussie.

Been seeing signs posted on my way home and could only make out one part, "2000 Cyclists June 20-25." The signs weren't lying. I have been passing/riding behind cyclists for most of the weekend on the Bike Virginia Tour which happens to go right past my house. First time I have ever seen a tandem recumbent bicycle before.

I would have found a different route.

No problem. I can relate all to much on the lack of sleep thing...
