Bicycles on the road

My MUP strategy is to politely ding a couple of times at a reasonable distance and if the person
doesn't react, I pass as quickly as I can taking the grass if I can. If it`s a young person wearing earbuds,
I buzz by close to purposely scare them. Face it young oblivious earbud girl, if you didn`t hear me
approaching then you wouldn`t hear the thug sneaking up on you either.

I learned not to say anything because 90% of people walking on the left side of a path with their back to you will
turn to their right and step back to see you.

The bicyclist, a 62-year-old Arlington man, told police that he tried to warn Lapina by yelling "to your left" and by ringing a bell. Lapina stepped to her left, turned around and was struck head on, police said.

Heaven forbid a car expect a bike to get out of their way. Honk at a cyclist to warn them and you'll get rocks thrown at your car. But if you're walking and a cyclist tries to warn you and you don't move they're run your ass over dead!

The irony here is overwhelming.

Let me add...the cyclists should react to the pedestrians the same way that they want motorized vehicles to react to them...
They should not pass the pedestrians in an unsafe area; they should show patience and trail behind the pedestrians as long as necessary.

From now on...when I'm a pedestrian and with other pedestrians...I'm going to convince all of them to walk 2 abreast in large groups, to teach those god damned impatient bicyclists, how it feels to be held up, based on their own principles of "holding their lane"...like they think it's ok to do on public roads.

Be considerate and move the fuck over!
In return, I'll pass with a margin of safety.(4 ft in my State)

And this is better than a car doing this to a bicycle rider how?

As for hearing the bike, I NEVER wear any kind of device, or play music. I might talk with my wife, but it is not uncommon at all to be startled by a bike doing 10mph on a MUP and never hearing them coming, often with zero warning, or a yell ten feet from me. Makes me crazy.

Here's the dilemma for we on bicycles mixed with peds on a MUP based on my personal experience. I've found that it's an easier pass to just pass. Sure, I startle the ped, but I find it safer than when I try to yell which all too often causes them to juke into my path which makes me need to juke to avoid them. Peds, in my experience, stay their course unless alerted to my approach from behind them. If altered their course becomes unpredictable where if I do the no alert pass, they never interfere with me.

I am still skeptical about MUP's but that's what I have here in many areas.
