Old Shearing Shed in Jimna Area??
G'day All
I remember reading a ride report a couple years back from someone that had posted pics from an old deserted shearing shed somewhere out towards Jimna. Trying to find this place and google is giving me nothing. Does anyone know where such a place exists? Cheers |

There's a fair few old buildings left in Jimna township, but it was more timber/forestry.
Haven't heard of a shearing shed but I suppose there could be one around there......Jimna station is a pretty old property and probably ran sheep in the very early days. (there's a Sheepstation Creek just South and plenty of others would know the area better than me) You probably already know about the old sawmill a little bit north, at Elgin Vale? http://advrider.com/forums/showthrea...t=elgin+steamy woopwoop screwed with this post 10-12-2011 at 06:11 PM |

Hmm maybe it wasn't Jimna then.
I didn't know about the Sawmill so thanks for that I'm keen to check it out as well. |

Mat
I'm not saying you're confused but you wouldn't be the first person to mix up Jimna and Jimbour (on the downs). I read an article in the Courier Mail once where they had the explorer Ludwig Leichardt setting out from Jimna in 1844 rather than Jimbour. There're a lot of historic buildings at Jimbour, whether or not they include a shearing shed I'm not sure but according to this photo they definitely had one in 1895. ![]()

G'day Mat, I haven't heard of one up this way that you can ride to.
A few properties up that way used to run sheep. Old Yabba Station springs to mind but that is all on Private Property. I know a bloke who knows a bloke that knew a bloke who worked there so I might have to ask him Cheers.

All good I must be getting ride reports and locations mixed up as it was a while ago now. Either way that sawmill looks like fun to play with the SLR camera I'll check it out.

I remember the ride report you refer to. It was a sawmill which was up in the locality of Eastern Branch Rd, I have been looking for the report myself and am pretty sure I bookmarked it. Just have to find the bookmark.
I think there was some mention of the location being popular with shooters parties and there were some great photos of rusting relics of machinery and possibly a no through road that wasn't. I don't think there were photos of a yellow submarine in this report. Maybe this will jog somebody's memory.

That's it! Where? Did you do a ride report or remember who did? Have another Turkey, it helps clear the memory. Maybe MickD or Dusty? SJ Duh.. Too long without a drink. Just saw Woopwoop's link at the bottom of his post
