More awesome photos, Dave! Your use of HDR is very effective. Too many people tend to overdo it but yours are very well executed.
I agree that the ribbon of tarmac between the visitor center and Grandview Point is among the best I've ridden anywhere. The only problem is the pesky speed limit, which I am totally incapable of abiding by. I mean, come on, if they didn't want people on motorcycles to get frisky with the throttle they wouldn't have made it so curvy, right? Thanks again for the inspiration. Great stuff, as always!

Grandview Inspiration
![]() I was at this very spot four years ago. Looking down at the White Rim Trail I was inspired to someday own a bike capable of that kind of trail. ![]() La Sal Mountains (Tomorrow's Destination) Shrouded in Clouds. ![]() ![]() It was well after sunset when I stopped at the other Shafer Switchback Overlook. ![]() Day 2 Stats I love my bike that is capable of all roads at all speeds. ![]() |

Day 3 Late Start
Moonlit View from My Campsite ![]() I ended up sleeping later than usual because of the shade trees and late sunrise due to being in a canyon. ![]() ![]() I had a good breakfast and hot Starbucks Coffee. ![]() My fellow campers were a friendly bunch. They helped me straighten out the pannier racks then kept me engrossed in conversation until late morning. Thanks for the great company Patrick and James! ![]() It was about 10:30 before I got on the road. I'm gonna feel rushed all day now. Didn't even slow to shoot this climber hanging above the road. This confirms my sanity as I would never try that. ![]() I head east on the 128 towards Onion Creek. ![]() |

That's so cool you found me on here. Such a small World.

I'm using a Panasonic PnS and a Pentax k5 DSLR. I do have a couple Swamp-Inspired HDRs upcoming. ![]() It took me maybe 30 hours or so to post-process the pics from this little 4 day trip, but it's something I enjoy doing. It could be done much faster, but I prefer treating each photo individually. (The point-n-shoot pics have the "Dave6253" watermark on the bottom right.) Thanks RedRockRider! |

despite being only a few miles long, the road to grandview is near perfect. Has a wonderful cadence
to the turns, with a spectacular ending.
