kermit sand dunes

Has anyone ever been over to the kermit sand dunes to ride? I am thinking about making a trip just to see what it is like. Would anyone like to go to show me the ropes maybe sometime this summer?

I'm not sure you can still ride the Kermit sandhills... 2 or 3 years ago the land owner got fed up with the drunks and littering..
I think you can still ride the Imperial area...
About half way between Odessa and Monahans on I-20, go south on Hwy 1053 about 10-12 miles until you hit the intersection of Hwy 1053 & Hwy 1233....
The area west of 1053 is open....

No, it's only the "taint". You have to go on to Hobbs, NM to get to the end..

Amarillo area

hey fellas. My buddy and I both ride DRZ 400 E's that we converted to street legal and are looking for some other guys to ride with or some organized rides. We are willing to travel but not to Houston, lol. Just thought I'd throw it out there in case anyone else is looking for some others to ride with. We are both near 50 yrs. old and have dirt backgrounds but enjoy the dual sport scene immensely! Look forward to hearing from someone. Thanks. email build14u@yahoo.com

West Texas Map

I have noticed on some other threads specifically the central and dfw area threads they have maps with pins showing good roads in the area. Now I know West Texas is a massive area but I think with a combined effort we could make a decent map. I have already started working on one for the Abilene Area and south to Brown Wood. I honestly think the map could extend all the way south to Del Rio and as far west as the El Paso Area and as far north as Amarillo. The map would not just be county roads but also farm to market roads. Google map has a function where multiple people can collaborate on a map, and with the combined effort we could possibly make a well made map of the massive area that is west texas. Reply and let me know what you think.

it looks like we have gotten people from the big bend, panhandle, and el paso area. if anymore people would like to be apart of this project make sure to pm me so i can get you to collaborate with the map. The map still needs people to fill in the San Angelo, south west panhandle, and midland odessa area.

I have added a few roads to the map. As always be aware that some of the county road access may be disputed by locals. It never hurts to double check the road as the county will sometimes drop the maintenance and the road is no longer public. That's what I've been told, if its legal, I'm not sure.

It would be nice to have some of the Big Bend area roads on the map as well. I know a few that we rode on the Terlingua D/S ride a few years back but nothing current.

Just about everything that was on the Dual Sport ride is off limits except for South County/North County Road...

I remember some of the issues with the Terlingua Ranch Roads. I was thinking of the N/S county road as well as some inside both the parks.
