Yes, it is! 43rd largest Island in the world! I doubt I will ever run out of new places to explore on it!

You could be right. When I rundown the lake in my boat I use a BC Topo map chip in my GPS. I don't recall that the island names are on the chart.

They're unnamed on every map I have, I'm just going by what Papa (Grandpa) told me back in the day!

I never meet your gramps but I would believe him. My real stomping grounds is a little north at Nanaimo Lakes. I like to fish the Cowichan. I only ride by on the way to Renfrew.

About 2 years ago, I said I saw what I thought was a lone wolf near Shawnigan Lake.

Then I see this on the news! I would be willing to bet it's the same animal..

What a spectacular RR. This truly reminds me that I need to get out to the island and do more discovering I've only done it with the family and car camping. That ride report and your pictures kept me entertained for the last two hours while getting ready to go to work. I had a 1984 Toyota Tercel SR5 four-wheel-drive. And nothing was amazing never let me down until the timing belt broke. Then I lost it in a crooked golf game. But by that time it'd already seen 400,000 km. mine was the gold colored one. I have family in Vancouver and I plan on one day stashing a bike of there. So I can explore the island and surrounding area.
Amazing stuff, I'm subscribed so don't stop posting

Late July 2013. Leaving the Island for the trip north. Hadn't rained for a month until that day! It was a soaker all the way to Nanaimo, then it stopped as soon as I got on the ferry!

Just got my GSA on Dec 23, managed to get out for a ride on Christmas Day before I had to get back to work on Boxing Day. Maybe we can meet up for a ride sometime when I get home.

Look forward to hearing from you.

That also is Washington state in the back ground, this was taken not far from the lighthouse.

Vancouver Island BC is Great

Tropic of Canada, when for a short ride back in the day on my BMW R75/5. I haven't owned that ride for a very long time but I see "The Island" is still a beautiful place.
Images from back in the day, (summer 1976).
On the way north

Darn, I was young!

A little artsy stuff

Sproat Lake with a couple of Martin Mars water bombers

Into every life some rain must fall

No doubt you've seen this monument

It was a good ride, on a beautiful island.
Cheers
Dave

Vancouver Island Day Trips

I can't wait. I'm moving back next week with bike in tow!!. Not sure how much exploring I'll be able to do this time around, but on my next rotation, I should not have some problem.

Be very interested in going out for a ride if anyone is interested. My current bike is a tiger 800xc., looking more for forestry and living toast type of riding.
