Dakar 2012 General Pre-Event Discussion

Since no one has already started it, i start this 2012 Dakar Thread. Let's speak and discuss about the next Dakar.

I have a little interesting news! in 2012 there is going to be a new motorbike brand!! Its going to be called Bordone Ferrari Moto Italiana (i hope i got the name right) and 3 riders have already been chosen for this new project:

Paolo Ceci (Italian Rally Rider) he raced Dakar with the Aprilia in 2009 finishing 14th outright

Alessandro Botturi (Italian Enduro Rider) he raced for many seasons in the World Enduro Championship

Gerard Farres (Spanish Baja and Rally Rider) i think he won the famous Baja Aragon

They might debut with the new bike in the Merzouga Rally at the beginning of november and i can't wait to see what they are up tto with the bike design! I just know that initially the engine will be the same as the KTM.

Speaking of other stuff i'm trying to attempt Dakar this year, i sent the first 2 entry fee payments (busted all my savings and went bankrupt!) and now i have 10 days to find 5.700 euros for the last part of the entry fee payment. With a friend we designed this presentation to show my Dakar Project:

http://www.ladakar.com/dakar-project-2012/

Please let me know if you like it and what you think, i have 10 days to find some sponsors to cover the last payment and want to know if you think this presentation could stimulate investing in my project!

Thanks very much and if you have other little interesting news please share them! I'm a Dakar maniac :P

Question I May Misremember, But ...

... didn't entries close a few months ago?

Edit: My bad - I didn't read that you were paying off the entry fee. I'd always assumed one had to have that up front in order to be accepted.

See JMo's "Bankrupt" thread and many, many others.

Is there a list of the 2012 entrants yet?

For the first time, I actually know someone personally who will be competing. I know a few others, vicariously... One step closer all the time

Cant wait, I've got to figure out if there's an autorefresh function for Safari

Good luck with your endeavor, GOOOOOO Manuel!

Presentation

Manuel - Very well done presentation.

It is a bit hard to imagine the need for support when you picture that giant Husa hauler and rig. It appears as though you're well supported. Just my opinion.

Special guest at 5 Italian discoteques

Best of luck.

Thanks guys!!! Hehehe unfortunately the rig is the Husaberg's rig and not mine, i put it in the brochure because it would be what would be the perfect support if some big sponsor invested but at the moment this isn't the case and as you can see in this link, at the moment the main sponsor is coming from people's donations for their name on my jacket and we construct our bikes in my grandparents kitchen

http://www.ladakar.com/support-lottery/

At the moment i have done the main things on the bike and next week the bike will be presented and exposed at EICMA the biggest european bike exposition. Hehe the discoteque stuff is cool already been in a few it makes you catch the attention of extra-sector people and in this way i want to try and encourage people to get interested in our sport, furthermore discoteques in reality are looking always for new stuff for their parties so you get a good exposure for free!! Getting lots of media coverage here in italy but still no sponsors :(

Today i went to get the low exhaust pipe for my bike thanks to Scalvini that gave me the technical support, he can make low exhausts for any bike you want and his price is between 600-700 euros for the complete pipe which is lower than all the other companies.

http://www.ladakar.com/2011/11/05/hu...-pipe-preview/

NEWS:
In the Bordone Ferrari Team the confirmed riders are GERARD FARRES, JORDI VILLADOMS, PAOLO CECI and ALESSANDRO BOTTURI! They are at the moment racing at Merzouga Rally, will be interesting to see how Alessandro Botturi will cope with his first rally ever.

The Husby looks really smart and it was a pleasure to have a chat with Manuel wishing him "in bocca al lupo" as we say in Italy

more photos of the bike:

and now you can add the num, ber: 172 (the entry list is on http://www.dakar.com/dakar/2012/docs...AGES_MOTOS.pdf)

That's a terrific looking bike!

It's a shame someone cut Manuel's head off in the second pic.

Funny you say that I was just about to comment how he buffed up bu the second shot.

Sweet looking bike and a very nice simple presentation too.

Sorry !

But can I now wish you all the best for your Dakar efforts
