While the shaft drive would be nifty for longer tours (I currently keep some of the multi-purpose teflon lube under my 1050's seat), I'm baffled by the extra 150cc. I've never been in a situation on the 1050 (including full bags & pillion) where I felt the power was lacking anywhere in the powerband. If anything, I'd rather have a smaller, more efficient, engine in the 1050's frame (the 800's drivetrain in the 1050's frame would be a fantastic ADV tourer, IMO). I get that Triumph wants to spread out the models to hit more customers interests.. and compete with the Multistrada.. but I really don't think they actually need to do that.

Edit: Oh.. Hai AUS.. didn't realize that forum I'd dropped into. How do you guys feel this (from what we know so far) fits into your bike market?

Yup,I think its just a range for the mass's...1050 stays for a while,apparently.
BTW,no pics of the 1200's shaft drive housing or any writeups? must be boring old tech?
