XL600 Decomp problems

Hey, hopefully someone might know what's going on with my 86' xl600. I rebuilt the engine and needed to use 83' xl600 rocker arms which had to be machined to fit. Now the with the engine back together the decomp isn't working. I think it may be because the 83 uses a fifth valve as a decompressor rather than just opening one of the existing valves. Any other ideas or possible solutions? Thanks in advance,

John

Try asking in the XL600 thread in Thumpers.

You probably need a later right exhaust rocker arm. One that the decom assy on the right front of the rocker cover can activate. The rocker you have doesn't have the little foot that get's pressed on by the decom lever.
