Anyone Riding South the Last Week of June?

Greetings all...I am headed to the July 8-10 Moto GP races at Laguna Seca. After checking the prices for shipping my bike to Seattle from Anchorage, I am considering riding the enitre way down and shipping my bike back.
Anyone riding the Alcan southbound during the last week of June?

Looks like everyone is staying close to home. It's more fun to ride by yourself anyway. Have fun. Barb

What kind of price did you get? I thought it was cheaper to ship Southbound than Northbound, maybe things have changed.

Should be a great trip!!

About $900 - $1000...

round trip Anchorage to Seattle and return is the best price I have found. That is going through Allied van Lines. I used them when shipping my RT from Chicago to Anchorage.
Although I would really like to ride to Laguna Seca, I may fly down and save my riding time and $$ to ride Alaska this summer with all of you guys ( and girls :-).
Let's see...the Dawson run, McCarthy, Denali highway, the Haul Road, the big loop to Fairbanks. Plenty of trips to choose from.
Speaking of the big loop to Fairbanks, I am thinking about riding it over Memorial day weekend. Know anyone who may be interested?

regards...jb

Classic Motion

I used classic motion to ship my bike to Portland when I rode to dayton.

They did the crating (in a Harley Crate) and moved it on to the shipper.

In fact they will pick up the bike at your house, crate it and get it to the shipper.....easy. call them for a quote---272-6863.

Yep, they just strap it to a pallet and ship on a cargo plane. Only works between Anch and Seattle or the other way. Barb

I used Classic Motion to ship my KLR down from Anchorage to Seattle last Summer. It was about $200 to crate the bike and another $200 to ship it. They work with a company in Seattle (Kent actually) that will also pick the bike up at the docks take it to Kent and reassemble it for another $80. Their office in Kent is about a 10 minute cab ride from Sea-Tac. I got off the plane, caught a cab, paid my money and rode away. No problems.

July will be a good time to ride up. Stop by the shop if you are in Anchorage. I'll be in Lima, Ohio that week for the BMW rally. Barb
