BrownEyedSuzanne and I did a weekend on the western slope. We swung by Silverton, where we will spend our second night......

And....we swung by Naturita, where we will spend our 3rd night. Check out the pics....

This is something we have to figure out....how many will want a bed with a roof and who wants a tent site.

The good news is....there is gas, groceries and maybe a cold one.

Silverton....

Naturita....

Thumb VERY interested...

Big_John,

This looks like a spectacular ride. Love and appreciate all of the time and great effort you are putting into this.

I am VERY interested (put me on the List!) and am working on some logistics, trying to pull this one off. If I can pull it all off, the CAM 1000 will be part of a 2 to 3 week Colorado (& probably a little Utah) adventure for me...

Can't wait, and am doing everything that I can to make it happen.

Thanks
COorbust

Did I say i'm down for this?!?! I can't freakin wait! Also just traded my 990R for a 2011 690 Enduro! Will be much more "Black Bear" friendly as the 990 was a handfull on it last year! All I need now is a little luggage and camping equipment. You can count me down for camp sites mostly!

Interested to join in

Big John and group,

I would like to make application to join the "interested" list. I have ridden the MT 1000 the last 2 years on a KTM 950. I think I can ride OK. Won't claim to be a 10, definately not a beginner. Not joining to race, just joining to ride. It seems this ride is recommended on a smaller bike. I will plan to bring a 450 Christini that is street legal. If there is snow, I will give it a good go. Being a Canadian, I am accustomed to white stuff, ...although we usually ride snowmobiles through it. With bringing a smaller bike I will trailer down from Calgary, and will have lots of room to carpool with others coming from the North, or join a carpool.

Cheers,

AB boy

Big Tank

I just bought this 6.6 for my 450EXC-----other than that weight full of fuel I'll be travelin' lite
I bought this bike used and got a full JD jet kit---so I should have the stuff to re-jet properly.

Shown here with the stock (can't go anywhere) tank.

I also wired some heated grips into the AC circuit off the headlight----works great--better than I expected.
God help me if I have to ride in the dark. I've decided not to upgrade the stator and leave things simple.

And thanks John for scoping out the motels and campgrounds---I'm bettin' you find out lots more as time passes.

I've got lots of plans this year-----since I'll be un-employed for the rest of my life before long.
I'll find out what Cannonshot (retired) found out years ago !!!!!

I've ridden all the Trans America Trail---but Sam Correro has changed the Tennessee route 100%---I'll ride that next month-----also I plan to ride the Utah Backcountry Discovery route-------Oregon and Washington also---a little bit of Idaho---then ride the as yet not quite put together "Colorado Backcountry Discovery route" and hopefully the Cam 1000.

But mostly I'll be riding the yet untested "BigDog going where ever he fells like it route"------I think it will be awesome.

If your bike weighs more than 400lbs. You might not make it.

Ok, I just put in for time off for both the CAM and RMAR. If I have to choose between one or the other, I will likely pick the CAM.

If I get both approved though, I may need someone's help with the logistics.

My thought is to trailer the bike out there for RMAR and leave it, my street bike and the trailer out there and fly home afterward. I will fly back out for the CAM and then bring everything back home after the CAM.

Can one of you guys keep my bikes and trailer at your place for a month? The closer to Colorado Springs, the better?

Thanks,

Very Interested

This looks like an awesome event! I am very interested. I need to do some checking on the timing. I also need to get back in shape! I'm just picking up a 990R later this month. I know you consider it big, and will have to really make sure I'm up to the ride this summer. Don't know if I'm a 6-7 rider but I am a 6'7" rider and the 990 doesn't feel big to me.

This is a great forum. Hoping to meet many of you even if I don't get to do the whole ride. Thanks for all the effort putting this together.

I May Need Logistic Help Myself

Do you guys think there is a place I could ship my bike to. I would like to ship it instead of driving for two days, I could use those days to check my jetting and acclimate to the altitude a bit.

A quick question about being street legal, If my motorcycle complies with my state does it have to comply with the other states that I drive it into. I was under the impression if it was legal in my state I could drive it anywhere.

Is it registered and tagged in your state? If so, yes...

Sure, send me a PM and we'll discuss options.

So, I am thinking about picking up a hammock to sleep in on this trip rather than a tent and air mattress.

Are we going to be camping above the tree line or are there going to be trees around at night?
