I hope to make this my 2012 long trip. I will start hoarding vacation time and saving my dimes NOW. I don't intentionally ride off pavement but I don't believe I will have any problems finding roads to ride.

That would be American Basin. The red dot is the location of the rider and the yellow line is the rough mountain range. The rider is on the jeep trail that comes down the east side of Cinnamon Pass (in between Ouray and Lake City). It is a phenomenal view. By the way, the rider is PharmerKyle on his 1150GS and that is a pic that I snapped of him at WestFest 2008.

Thanks Big_john. Great photo! If ever there was a photo that answers the question 'Why do you dual sport' that would be it. That should be added to the photos on the ADV rider main page.

John,
I have this on my '12 riding calendar and will be watching for further details. It will be wonderful if this ride and WestFest end up on successive weekends. It would make my long ride across the Great Middle worth while. I was at '11 WestFest in Darby, MT and had a great time. |

Fellas, I think WestFest is set in stone, which means they are back-to-back. WestFest - July 26-29 RMAR - August 2-5 In between, Monday through Wednesday, one could ride a very nice circle of the state of Colorado. Incidentally, I am attending WestFest as well. I am looking for Pablo to run off a good one where I can sit back and be a lazy ass. I will get my turn at all the work the next weekend. WestFest and Woodland park are a quick 20 minute ride from my house..... awesome! .

In, along with 99577 who will fly in again from Anchorage. This time the GSA and its shitty TPS is staying home and the 450 gets to play.
