I thought you were going to head out with the SMIB crew and then depart them in NM. That is why I picked the 1st, I figured it would take 3 days to get to NM and I wiul meet up around the 2/3rd of July.

I had thought about it and may still do so. I am also flexible enough with time that I can leave earlier. I figure if I list that in the first post though that it would give any one else interested some options.

I'm trying to clean up a mess right now and I haven't had time to clean up the first few posts. Hope to do so later this evening.

I am not opposed to meeting up north and shave some days on the front to have more days further north. I am easy, just not cheap.

6, how much time do you want to spend in Canada and AK? Do you want to sprint from Albuquerque to MT and then slow down the pace? I am working on the routes in AK. I will post up ideas and we'll see what flies!

I've got time that you don't so we have to fit your schedule. Now, having said that, I love Montana (especially), Wyoming and Idaho and I haven't been back there since 1987 so I'm in no hurry to haul through there. I can easily do 400 mile days on either bike and once I replace the seat(s) I can extend that to 600 or better. I want to move slow enough to enjoy it and take lots of pictures but fast enough to get everything in. I've never been to that part of Canada and I'm looking forward to it. Alaska, for me, was a 2 hour layover on the way to Viet Nam so I want to spend more time up there.

So, long story short, we can move through the Rockys as fast as needed (especially since we'll wind up back there next year!) and then take more time going through Canada and Alaska.

Make sense?

BTW, I'll be somewhat sporadic in posting for the next two weeks. The tree guys are removing the oak from the house and next week I am working the Fallen Brethren 3 Gun match. I'll have net access but I may not be able to respond very quickly.

Makes perfect sense. Glad the house is OK. Now you have an excuse to enclose the porch. Were you guys home when the tree came down? Had to scare the feces right out of you.

It happened somewhere around 0800 Saturday morning (the power was out so no clocks). Muffynmonster was awake downstairs in her room and I was upstairs looking for an excuse to go back to sleep. First came the crack and then the "explosion" as it hit the house. I knew right away what it was but which tree fell surprised me. Very large, healthy oak at least 100 years old. Close to 40" in diameter and probably 100' tall.

Wow!. I have a couple of local folks that are looking at joining up with us. Varying timetables and times for traveling up and back.

Right now, unless someone from SMIBville decides to join us, I plan to ride to Albuquerque with the SMIB contingent, meet you and your party and then somewhere on the way north pick up Steve. If we keep the group size to 8 (bikes) or less, we can easily maintain group cohesion.

I'm not too worried about schedules because as long as we leave AQ at the same time, if one or more members has to cut and run later on, it shouldn't impact the trip. The departure date is somewhat important mainly because I'd like to ride out with at least one other rider and I'm sure that you'd like to touch base with your Homies.

I am already looking into meals and what I need to bring. Nothing like a little bit of the cart before the horse.

The Monster and I were talking about trip food yesterday. i can't deal with ramen noodles so it'll have to be something better.

Wish I could still get the "long rats' that we got in 'Nam (actually re-packaged Mountain House - and damn good!)!

Wow, less planning was done for the D-Day invasion. You may be over thinking this.

I am liking the spreadsheet! That should help keep you on track and on schedule.
