1. To refuse to commit to an event, but most likely attend at the last minute.
2. To ignore an event until the last minute so as to avoid any expectations of attendance, but then show up anyway.

Nice pics and RR On/Off.

I have been to Moab a couple of times and stayed on the east side of the Green River near the
trailheads of Pritchet Canyon and Kane Creek . So much riding in that area.

But i was wondering where your base camp area was located (cabin) ? Looks like you are close
to alot of trails there, that we have not rode.
Next time out we want to ride the other side of the area on different trails.

By the photos looks like your base camp was much closer to the La-Sal mountain range. Any info
you cuold share will be helpful in planning our trip next spring. Thanks

You are welcome. The cabin was in a great location. LOTS of privacy and easy to start riding right out your back door! I want to go back, NOW.

on off,
did you guys ride the 4 wheel drive road over in Arches NP?
We hiked to all the arches when we were there a yr or so ago.
we rode the 4 wheel drive trail, backwards (south to north) in a Tacoma. We saw some bike tracks in parts, but not end to end..
Pretty rough ride.. Just wondering what you thought of it (if you did it)?

Great RR by the way, enjoyed the pics, and narrative.

thanks for taking the time to post it.

Jeff

Its funny you mention this...
Due to pissing rain early in the day, one of our guys wound up exploring Arches in his pickup and Mike and I blew off Chicken corners due to that nasty storm that hit us on top of the mountain. Mike, Todd and I grabbed a bite to eat at a crappy asian buffet in Moab and each took our vehicles through Arches. On the way back, we caught some 4wd trail and this included Todd in the truck The trail wasnt too rough but I'm not sure if this is the road you are talking about. Here are pics AND video from that section...

Pretty tame stuff for the XR but not sure if this is the trail you are talking about? It took us from Arches out to the main highway heading back to Moab.

As promised, VIDEOS Hey Todd, we gotta tow the bikes back to MD with that truck!

The problem with Moab

The problem with Moab is it absolutely RUINS you for east coast riding. One minute you ride 800 miles of pristine dirt and dont even scratch the surface of the riding area and the next you are going in a small circle on a limited trail on the east coast.
Yes, completely ruined.

Place to stay in Moab

A good place to stay in Moab is the Adventure Inn 512 N. Main. 435-259-6122. Clean, well maintained and the folks like dirt riders. It is reasonably priced ( for Moab). They close down at the end of November and reopen in early spring. I do not have any affiliation with them -- just stayed there 3 or 4 times (been 2 years since my last stay so I don't know if Jim and Kris still run it or not).

The big rocks and mountain side cliffs reminded me of them old cartoons of Road Runner and Coyote!
Amazing landscapes, and you guys get to ride thru it. So sweet!

Cheers,
