Imagine the shock when a rider jumps a mound and gets a reckless driving ticket and 2 day bike impoundment!

This half of the legislation was designed to fail, all they wanted was the enforcement branch and conceded this park BS to make it look like they tried. Total nonsense.

I'm just wondering, I guess there aren't any legislators in the assembly or senate who are off-road riders? What "we" really need is representation from within the system. |

What most of to need to realize is that this park is mainly aimed at quad riders who have absolutely no place to ride at all.
I think most here at least have enduro/hare scrambles bikes that there are organized events that you can legally ride in even if you do not compete and the DS riders can still use the legal stuff in State Forests. The ATV riders have ZERO so 63 acres to them is the equivalent to an 80 mile enduro to the rest of us. I think the only ATV/quad event is Sahara Sands once a year. And there are enduro/hare scrambles for bikes most weekends. I do completely agree that this is a ploy by the state to get the unregistered and uninsured riders to comply along with taking their money and creating a database so the Rangers know where most if not all of them live should they need to hunt them down if they get caught riding illegally.

I agree with you that this new park is mainly aimed at ATVs, even the rule sheet only mentions ATVs. And I have no problem with registering and insuring ATVs and quads. Every type of vehicle is registered and insured: boats, trailers, small airplanes. And there's also nothing wrong with ATV and dirt bike riders being accountable for where and how they ride. New Jersey is too crowded, and things just aren't the same anymore.
When I was a kid, we'd ride on any piece of open land we could find, and it was probably illegal, but most times it was ignored. Now most of that land is gone, and I feel partially responsible, for not attending town meetings and protesting housing developments and shopping centers, and not writing letters and organizing a group to keep the land open. I live in north Jersey, and would welcome a legal place to ride, no matter how small or unsuitable it is, rather than having to ride 2 hours to the Pine Barrens or out to PA. I'm hoping the state follows through with the other parks. |

The park cut its hours already. It is only open now Friday through Sunday, "weather permitting".
![]() I drove past the other day and the gate was locked, so I looked up on their website to see if there was any reason why. What a joke. There is no incentive for current off-road riders riding illegally, to ride at this park.
