Sorry about the fine for crossing the border illegally! Were you looking for the border or did you think there was'nt one?

I see the UFOs are abundant. I see tringular lights all over the sky. Don't be trying to pass it off as shutter speed.Or camera jitter, we know and can see what it is

Thanks for the visuals, nice report.

Nice report! too bad about your experience up here.

Next time try crossing into the states without stopping... you'd likely not have a nice 2 hour chat, but be staring at the business end of a gun.

very true. i though about it too. it couldn't have happened because usually a US border is guarded by a nice road bar blocking the way..

I have crossed into the States from Canada and Mexico many times over the years and never seen a raod bar but have stopped at the inspection window. Now in Central America I have seen road bars at the border.
I usually stop at the road bar a little farther down the road for a beer!
Cheers

a picture (or two) will refresh your memory perhaps?

US to CA at Beaver Creek - no bars

not to justify my action (mistake) but a big shiny bar in the middle of the road would have definitely caught my attention

oh and by the way. this is the canadian border at stewart BC..
fairly tiny and insignificant building.. i honestly did not see it in that foggy rainy day

love google maps ;)

cheers!

Yep, fk Canada. That sounds like our version of a "Yankee Speed Trap". I've thought of an Alaska ride, but there's so much to see in our lower 48, that I'll never cover in my remaining years.
I just did a 7300 mile trip in Sept, that still sucks the breath out of me. Colorado, Utah, Mont., & Wy. are as beautiful as it gets, in my opinion.
Your report was the best and most well constructed, that I've seen. Ride on my brother.

Traveled some of that same route in the summer. Looks a lot different than when I was there -- a lot colder, for sure.

Sweet post man; sounds like an epic adventure. What kind of camera are you using? I intend on making a similar route trip this Summer. Too bad you missed out on the San Juan Islands. Some great couchsurfers out that way. I figure i'll take ferry out of Bellingham to Hains. Would you make this trip again? Do you suggest it? Did you have a book of preference on this trip?
