Cool2

My last ride with Rob was my stupidest thing I did, but he still toped the evenings antics.

I'll let him tell the story.

Not sure how much details I can spill without appearing to be a shirtless, helmetless hillbilly riding a quad after getting lucky with his sister and drinking moonshine.

I was hoping that no one would realize that I haven't ridden in the last five weeks.....

We can definitely plant this one seriously in the "don't run with scissors, you'll trip and stab yourself", "don't do electrical work without turning off the breaker, you'll electrocute yourself" , don't masturbate, you'll go blind" , and "don't ride a friends motorcycle while drunk and on Vicky's without a helmet, while wearing shorts and sandals or you'll narrowly avoid riding the bike over a cliff, narrowly miss going blind and lose your iPhone" column.

Lets just say my antics reduced my vision in my left eye to about 30% the next day. I suffered a partial vitreous detachment of the retina and racked up some decent med bills. Being that I didn't want to fuck up the family vacation to Kauai I avoided letting on to my wife that I was nearly blind in my left eye. Over time my vision has mostly come back to about 85% and should fully return within the next few months to a year. But basically looking through my left eye was like someone had taken a sharpie pen and drawn very thick spider webs over 70% of my eye that would float around inside when I blinked. You couldn't see them from the outside as they were behind the cornea against the retina. In essence, I had blown out most every blood vessel in the back of my eye around the central nerve and had blood hemmorhaging into my eye and then clotting up around the retina and blocking my vision.

This is definitely not one that I'm proud of and I'm not trying to make this sound like one of my standard NMBMN antics, because I was doing what I've never done before,.........riding without a helmet.
This was really stupid!

Klammer, when do you want to do that dinner I owe you?

Pretty much. Ive always had 20/10 vision, doc says at this point I'm 20/20.

Definitely not proud of that one. There's no way to glorify stupidity, no matter how you wrap it.

Just have to figure out how to escape the last two days of our PS trip next weekend to make it up for Sunday/Monday. Wife has some friends going, so they'll most likely be sick of my bullshit by Saturday night.

So is the eye injury from hitting your head too hard? Bushwhacked? Or from too high of wind speeds?

Side effect of pulling up too hard while practicing a popawillie!
Rob, we'll square up on a ride soon.

I'm glad to hear your vision is back Rob, that's a wild story and might just be your stupidest moment yet.... Wait is stupidest a word?

I hope to see ya next week in the Kern. There will be plenty of opportunity for more stupidness. Wait, is stupidness a word?

as serious as Robs recollection of that night is, I have to say, being a witness firsthand, that it was hilarious.

I rolled up to the scene only to find Rob looking off in a distance as if he saw a ghost. he looked me and almost didn't recognize me.
we had to get the rolled up wire fence that he wadded up in. (there was another wad of fence on the other side of the forest road.) we rolled the bike backwards to undo the fencing from the rear.
he looks terrible. I told him he was bleeding everywhere and he laughed.
now the bike is ready to ride, but Rob can't get on the damn thing. he would swing his leg over and proceed to fall on the other side. this happened maybe 4 or 5 times. I finally held the bike for him.
then he proceeds to turn around on the forest road..... and falls.
we then swap bikes (him on Dales bike, me on Richs bike). the shift lever was bent so I could only ride in first all the way back.
Rich had come to see what was up and escorted us back.

all in all it was a fun night!

That would be the story of Me sleeping on the picnic table. In a sleeping bag with my pillow.

You know the rest.
