Heading for Baños next for some aqua termales.

Then down to Jean, Peru, from there I'm thinking of going to Tarapoto, Peru.

If you're not in a hurry, take the long scenic route to Baños. Go to Papallacta, stop at the Aguas Termales there, then go on to Baeza, Tena, Puyo and Baños.

In Leymebamba, Peru. Lovely little town, fantastic ride in here through Chachapoyas and the the rather amazing Kuelap fortress.
Heading for Cajamarca manana. It`s 108 kms as a crow flies, they tell me it will take about 7 hours! It`s got a few curves I reckon!

Celendin to Cajamarca is pretty mild. You get asphalt for the a good chunk of it iirc.

edit: I rode the route you're doing to Celendin in the dark. It's supposed to be quite stellar but I didn't see it.

In the dark I suppose the advantage would be being able to see the lights of oncoming traffic, and that there probably isn't much traffic.
What you did miss were the innumerable shear dizzying 2000 foot drop offs which scare the peepee out of ya! That is definitely one of the most impressive stretches of road I've ever been on. It took me just over 8 hours and I beat the bus by a lot.

i rode from Chachapoyas to Quelap then Celendin in one day. I should´ve camped at Quelap.

are you taking the Canon del Pato to Huaraz?

Avoid the panam and go to Huanuco via Chavin from Huaraz. it´s even better than what you just rode. Big peaks and Quechua speaking villages.

Huanuco/Huancayo/Ayacucho/Andahuaylas/Abancay

I´m in Samaipata Bolivia now and heading for La Higuera soon..

Puke Hoping to get back to my bike in Cartagena and head south

I have been from Guatemala to Colombia on a 1991 Honda 250 XRE over the last several years. I parked it at the Hotel Bella Vista in Cartagena. Would love to hook up and travel south with sllloooowww travelers or just catch with faster travelers and send them on ahead. I usually stay if I like a place and do some art and relax. FYI for those crossing from Panama to Colombia, I went with Gisberto on the Santana (15 Meter Catamarran - five days thru the Islands) out of Puerto Linda and he is great. You can trust him. Tell him Bill sent you. We keep in touch. I am currently in LA.

Medellin/Guatape for X-mas

I'm leaving Cali now for Medellin. I'll be at the Pitstop Hostal. Some guys I met months ago in Bolivia are staying there too. I'll certainly have a few beers at the Shamrock Pub.
After X-mas in Bogota, then 10 days or so on the beaches. I'll stake the Stahlratte to Panama on the 17th.
Now you know.
