The Karijini Gorge is nice to visit for a swim, the riding is pretty average though.....straight and good gravel for the most part. Stay overnight at Karijini, and then the next day ride to Mt Augustus and stay overnight there (they have beer), then the next day somewhere around Murchison before heading to Perth the day after. We camped not far from Twin Peaks Station a few weeks ago in a creek bed, about 50K south of Murchison. Alternately Wooleen Station nearby will look after you as well. You can ride Mt Augustus to Perth in one day, but its a 12 hour ride......

Wittenoom is spooky in a ghost town sort of way, and quite exciting to visit, definitely worth a look if you are not worried about inhaling the fibres - there is not too much chance of that if you don't kick up huge dust clouds as its pretty overgrown nowdays but only you can assess this risk. People still live there and don't seem too worried. The Gorge where they mined asbestos is an extension of Karijini that is on the other side of the range - very beautiful.

If its been raining Phil, you may not get south offroad.....there's some big rivers through that area south of Port Headland.

That will make cleaning the air filter and dewatering easier.

Expect mid-40's.... if you're lucky it'll be in the high 30's.

Only need to be concerned if a cyclone has crossed the Pilbara coast in the previous few weeks. Rivers don't flow after local rain... well not in the 17yrs I lived up that way.

How much time have you got for this leg Philth and where do you wanna finish it at?

After leaving Broome and keeping the slab to a minimum, try...

Boreline Rd (80 sth of Sandfire Roadhouse)
Muccan/Shay Gap Rd
Marble Bar
Hillside/Marble Bar Rd
Woodstock/Hillside Rd
(all are easy going; formed dirt roads; very stony in places and hard on tyres)
Auski Roadhouse
Karijini
(then as per Wilmo's post)

Marble Bar should be a pleasant 45-50 degrees in December
