Most in the States are clueless about Formula 1, also.

If it doesn't go round and round, or in a straight line for a quarter mile, most haven't a clue.

I'm sure that having Rossi on board didn't hurt sales in the US, but I don't think he added much to our sales.

Weak yen, European innovation, new models etc. drove the trend.

Exactly.

I have a close friend who has a Lotus Europa- he is the ONLY other person I know who watches F1.

Ask just about anyone in the USA under the age of 80 who Dale Earnhardt is. That they will know. And Budweiser ()

Oh, and if you really want to see confused faces, ask an American about MotoGP and WSBK.
