Compare Stock vs. Wings Exhaust Sound - Because Sound Matters

I just installed the Wings exhaust on my 2010 KTM Adventure 990 and thought I'd make some before - after video's so you can compare the sound.

The Wings come with 2 inserts. One "wide" set and one "narrow" set. It's best to look at the attached image to see the difference. On the Wings website they talk about "long" and "short". Both come with the Spark Arrestors.

I first installed the Wings with the wide inserts, these were installed when I got the pipes. Sound is great, not too loud but definitely more throaty and powerful. The bike feels more responsive but that may just be my perception. I did have some after-firing going on. The bike also stalled on me twice.

I decided to give the narrow inserts a try. Super simple change, one bolt, 15 minute job. Sound is almost the same, just a bit more quiet at idle. After-firing is almost non existent, and no stalls so far. Pretty much perfect.

The weight and heat difference to stock is huge. I believe the website says they weight 50% less and I believe them. After a ride I can still touch the end caps. After having burned my fingers twice on the stock pipes I really like he Wings :-)

I did not remap and according to Wings this is not necessary. I'm hoping my MPG has not changed.

Here are the videos. It's very hard to capture the real sound and that is why I included the stock sound so you have a known base.

For my taste, the stock exhausts have both the best sound and looks of all alternatives. Shame for their weight though...

Been clicking around Wings site for a while now, wondering should I get a pair. Had Remus slip ons on my F650 and thought those were too loud to my stealth style. But I love the low tone of after market pipes.

I am very impressed by the build quality. Every detail is taken care off. Also super happy that they come with two inserts to tune for your liking.

I tried them on the freeway today. I can definitely say they improve performance. The bike pulls away from traffic even faster than it did before, even at already high speed

One happy customer here!

personally I like the wide insert, but my speakers kinda suck on this computer. I also think the wings looks very nice-love those tips !!! Thank you for the sound bites

Congrats Masa. I'm sure you'll like them. I kept my stock mapping and that works fine. There is some popping on decel but not too much. MPG stayed about them same, maybe a tad lower.

Please share some pics when you put them on.

Shiny.. Easy to install. Cleaned with WD-40 as said in the installation notes. Did a quick sound check on idle to get 'em warm and re-tightened the bolts.

+1. Just a shame they are not ti or ally, still much less prone to denting.

+1 for the Wings

My first post but since I spent hours on this forum to find the right aftermarket exhaust I wanna give some feedback. I bought the Wings a couple month ago for my '06. Fitting them is very easy (if your old bolts are not rusted like mine) and the sound is just awesome! Deep exhaust note, a little louder than stock with the "wide" inserts. More like Ducati Thanks for uploading the videos ok64! But I think they sound much better when you hear them live.
I did the 15 minutes idle after installation but no remap and my bike runs perfect.
As far as I can tell the value you get for your money is really good. If you can live without the Akrapovic sticker- get the Wings.
And for all the Europeans who buy directly: Gorazd, the owner of Wings is very helpful and I havent had any problems with payment or shipping.

Just received my Wings yesterday. It took exactly 2 weeks from order. 5 days to build and then shipping to Colorado. I didn't think I'd see them until next weekend! All I can say, is WOW. They are just super nice and so much lighter. I went with the TI oval with the regular ends and they are perfect on my 950 sm. Fit and finish is fantastic. There were a few people at the house while I was installing them and everyone was blown away with the quality.

Big thanks to Gorazd Marovic at Wings. If you need some cans, contact him directly through the Wings website. He will send you his Winter price list and that's where it's at. Gorazd was totally awesome to deal with. KTM nut and an awesome guy that delivers great service. To me, people like him are what the community is all about.
