It just directs air like the XR650L ones!

Nice bike. I wish we got the tubeless rims here. I'd love to have those on mine.

Bingo! Just found this thread. I bought a 1987 XL600RM last week and am in the process of rebuilding the motor due to a knocking noise at idle.
Tear down reveals some play in the little and big end bearings.
I just ordered over $1000 worth of parts to do a sump up rebuild. Going to run a Wiseco 97.5mm 11:1 piston, Kibblewhite valves and springs, new guides, rod kit,
cam chain and guide, all new bearings seal and gaskets.
Cant wait to get this big girl on the road.

Well after lots of reading and digging, it appears the top end of this bike is from the xr600. I want to check whether the camshaft is worn, but l dont have the camshaft specifications for this bike, or the xr600. Ive compared the specs to the xl600 camshaft but the xr/rmg cam seems to have higher lift, so the xl specs are useless.
Anybody have the camshaft specs specifically for the xl600rmg, or the xr600 from 1985-87?
Thanks
Homer
