I don´t use people, is rude... Someone I know works there. I think both plane and boat. You can navigate in the page or contact them.

So, I plant my feet in Cartagena at the end of the month and will do the usual run-around fetching my bike from the port.

Any recommendations for hostals in Cartagena? Much appreciated!

Howdy everyone!

I'm in Medellin for the next two weeks and was thinking it would be fun to rent a dirt bike and hit some trails. Any locals around that know of a place to rent a bike / want to go out for some riding!?

We all piled off the Stahlratte into the Amber Hostal then to the Hostal Real just down the road. Both have secure parking. I think they were on CL 31 in the Getsemani area

Hola cumpañeros colombianos

Hola capos (y capas) colombian@s. Currently on a solo trip of my own around South America. I'm currently next door in Ecuador, and I'm planning on entering Colombia via Ipiales in about three weeks.

I'm riding "against the current" of most other bikers since I started in Patagonia and am headed home to the States. It's tough to find other folks to ride with, and I haven't found anyone to ride with since Chile, so I'd be happy to buy a beer or three for anyone who can ride with me while I pass through.

For what it's worth, would y'all recommend that I join touringcolombia.net as well?

Thanks in advance for any help

Josh

Also, I just received an email from a boat captain for the Cartagena-Panama jump, who said "the colombian port captain are not let the boats do it any more, the best call with be to ship it in one of the cargo boats".

Do y'all have any idea if this is right??? I'll also throw a post over on the shipping threads to see what I can find out.

You Gringo!

PM me when you arrive to Medellin, if you do... Maybe I would help you drain the bottles (I don´t drink beer while I drive) and will help you with that issue of crossing from Colombia to Panamá

I'll be back in Colombia in a few days. Currently in Venezuela. I'll be hanging out in Pereira and Medellin for the next 2-3 months. I'll see some of YFFs around

I will be in Colombia at the end of the month!

Finding a decent flight from the US to Cartagena is becoming a challenge but one to be solved soon.

See you all ff there. Looking forward!

Pissed Anyone Know of a Better Deal Than This to Ship a Bike??

Gents, I recently came across an unbelievable offer from Air Canada Cargo that surprised me and that is only available till the end of September. (although I was told that Air Canada Cargo plans to offer it again next summer too).

Basically put and until the end of September, Air Canada Cargo will ship your bike to and from Toronto and Bogota for $650.00 Canadian (approx US$610) if you personally fly with Air Canada and for $990 Canadian if you are not personally flying with Air Canada.

This is a roll-on-roll-off service. There is no requirement to crate the bike although Air Canada Cargo will personally place and strap your bike to a pallet. They do require a Dangerous Goods Inspection (ie. only 1/4 tank of gas in the tank) and a sign-off by a dangerous goods inspector that the bike is safe to travel.) Oh and they offer insurance of $3.00 per $1,000 of value of the bike.

Does anyone know of a better transport deal than this?

So far this is the best-priced transport option I have found from Toronto. If anyone is interested I was given two Air Canada #s for the coordination of this program (905) 694-5337 and (905) 694-5300. Would love to hear your thoughts and comments.

Sounds like quite the deal depending on your personal airfare and whether you need to be on the same flight as the bike.

Having worked for AC in YYZ for xx years, I'd say get the insurance!

Did see a lot of exotic cars on pallets tho.
