I have to say, this Jean Alesi thing is an accident waiting to happen.

He's 47 years old. He has never raced at Indy. He has the Lotus engine.

He's going to be a human chicane and he doesn't have the track experience to keep himself out of trouble. It looks like a monumentally bad decision. I hope no-one gets hurt.

It's been suggested that if the two Lotus drivers -- Alesi and, regrettably, Simona de Silvestro -- are dangerously slow, they might be black flagged. Much as I'd hate for that to happen to Simona, it might be the safest response.

How much slower are the Loti?

That sucks for Simona.

I haven't been following IRL this year, just never can find it when it is on.

They are way slow, like 15 mph slower. I read an brief interview with J Alessi and he knows that he is going to be in the way and is concerned about it.

WOW. That sucks for Lotus, Alesi, Simona and the fans. Can't imagine coming up on a car 15 mph slower in one of those turns.

The races generally air on NBC Sports Network, which used to be Versus, which used to be Outdoor Life.

If you search for NHL playoffs, you should find the channel.

This site might help you find NBC Sports Network. Click on the "Add" button around top center of the page under "Channel Lineup", and tell it what provider you're using.

On the way to Indy tomorrow AM. First time and really excited.

Here's hoping for some relief from the expected heat!
i'll be there.

20 some odd years now. seems weird. i don't feel that old.

stay hydrated; not too much beer. use the cooling stations under the stands. plenty of sunscreen. big floppy hat, preferably one you can soak with cold water.

it's a wet heat.

for traffic and other info: https://twitter.com/#!/Indstatepolice

good place to park; long walk to the track: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=39.817...num=1&t=h&z=16

ear plugs are handy. tune into 94.7 fm or 1260 am or 1070 am for traffic stuff. one of those am stations is more right than the other, but i forget which.

Outstanding! I'll be interested in your opinion on the engine note. On TV, I find it disappointing. Needs more scream.

No extra boost for the Lotus. As was noted earlier in this thread, IndyCar's not sure it would survive.

I see that there's been another shakeup in Lotus' management in England. I think they're not for long in IndyCar.

Alesi and de Silvestro black flagged after 15 laps.

What a shame. But the right call. I feel really bad for her.

Man, these cars are racy at Indy! What a great track.

I do think you have to question the wisdom of sending Conway out with a broken front wing. Bad call by AJ Foyt. Riding the fence like that was a nasty flashback to Wheldon.

And that close call with the tire -- amazing video -- for Helio reminds me of Massa's collision with a spring.

What a race! The only way it could have been better would be for TK's face to be going on the BWT.

Does this win vindicate Honda's choice of engine design? I say yes. I also think they may have sandbagged a bit early in the Indy process.

Hated to see so many yellow flag laps in the final quarter of the race.

Marco Andretti needs to get his head screwed on straight if he ever expects to be a winner. A name only carries one so far.

Will an American ever win the 500 again?

I'd like to see the outcome of Vegas betting on the over/under for Lotus getting blackflagged. That will not buff out.

There should be fines and penalties for that...stupid, could have killed somebody.
