Tired of rear brake pedal play?

Both my 950 and 990 have tons of play in the rear brake pedal and its due to the cheap steel brake bracket KTM uses for the brake pedal clevis. I couldnt stand it anymore and had our machinist make me up a prototype last week. my bikes blue so I had to match of course but we will have Black, Orange and Blue end of December for $39. it will come with a 410 stainless pin and threaded to use the stock brembo push rod.

Guranteed to make you faster Ha-Ha !!!!

Looks fantastic . The collar looks pretty short. It doesn't appear to allow much adjustment for the rod length .

I agrre that it looks short but the rod is pretty long and as it is runs past the round collar and down into the threaded section below. Maybe ill add another 5mm to the collar length just because.

Nice job!

I want one but don't have the bike to put it on.

Did you once own a KLR? I have seen this kind of thinking from that bunch.

So what happened to your black beauty? We met at the Deer Crk Campground on the Burr Trail and you were riding the black one.

[QUOTE=StmbtDave;17291512]So what happened to your black beauty?

still have it, with it now over 100,000 miles i was given the green light to get a new one by the boss, and my son has been riding the "black beauty"

the 950 is still running great and its fun to have the extra bike for my son to ride.

did you ever put the vacum pump on your 950?

Same thing annoyed me a few years ago on the 950 but I've pressed an Alu sleeve into the brake lever hole which allowed me to use the correct size heim/rose joint. I want the rear brake right there, no delay 'cause I'm usually going too fast Yours looks trickier though..

The shoulder being 1/4 inch longer would be a plus - more adjustability (upwards at least). Let us know when you are going into production on these.

am I missing something here ?
went out and looked at my 990 to see what the original part looked like
no play in pin at all - but there is a bit of free travel before the rod pushes master cyl
this is easily adjusted with rod length adjuster or pedal height limiter "offset round thing"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
are your bikes that high mileage that the pin is worn out
or was the 2011 model 990 different ?

The free play is essential to the proper operation of the brake, unless you want your rear brake to lock up solid.

I've a new 990 '11 and the hole is oval-shaped. There's about a 1mm play which gives that 3-5mm free travel for the pedal. Push rod's rubber sleeve keeps it against the master cylinder at all times.
