Welcome to the Gilimoto club. Supermanaint sent me some fitting instructions that along with some tweaks myself and it seems to fit well. Getting the pump out of the original tank was difficult Supermanaint and Pete-NZ had warned me about this. In the end I got a mate to hold the pump whilst I used a flat blade screwdriver to push
the plastic tang that fouls the hole aside. Certainly increases distances between fuel stops. I'm busy testing it before my trip to Africa. |

Still i can reply with why I did choose the Gilimototank instead of the teneré mod.
As you can see on the picture I would be forced to use 75 mm raisers plus the fact that the X fuelpump simply won´t fit because of the boltcircle aint the same. I f i´d choose to buy a new teneré fuelpump I´d have to pay around 1100 EUROs for it... Range of the Gili is an easy 350 km and then some so that´s good enough for me. Btw i rode to North Cape and back home, 5250 KMs in 8 days which finally killed my Heidenau K60 after a mere 18000 KM!!! ...guess what I bought for the rear!

Intiminators
Fitted some intiminators yesterday and took her for a ride today. Previously fitted some to a DR650 and they work just as well in the xt. On the brakes into corners it feels much more planted and in the dirt it gives a pretty plush ride. Suits my style of riding (that's the reason I'm plodalong) All up I'd say a worthwhile improvement. Next on the list is some decent 50/50 tyres and some higher bars so standing on the pegs is a bit more comfortable.

Nice work Pete, had to buy them as I'm not smart enough to make them anymore, must have been in Aussie too long. How long did it take to get the valving right? The intiminators work well out of the box although they sent a set of shims in case I want to fine tune them.

I have changed my original raisers for bigger ones that are more durable and they raise 50 mm but with changing the way of the clutch cable I can raise another 25 mm if I want. (75 mm) As seen on the picture, mind the dirt, we took on 340 km on Swedish gravel yesterday!

Nope? It has it´s original length.
I pulled it straight up above the cooler and in front of the steering head as you can see, I thought it might be to tight but has ridden 20000 kms without a problem. Try!

Hey!
Check this Rally fairing out!!! ![]() I just ordered one for 160 EURO plus P&P. It has got the right measurements for the Gilimototank. I ordered a clamp from OTR and will fit a carbonplate on the inside where I gear up my gauges. Lights from OTR aswell but tower homemade in stainless. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=622796
