Stay with me and we'll never grow up.

I know that I can't tell you
This light is slowly fading...

Like mail that was never dated
From towns that were burned and raided
And lost without a soul
With you forever more...

I'm sorry but I can't tell you
I feel like a pattern
A shape that will never matter

A color that will never flatter

It's all gonna come around
It's all gonna make your eyes burn

I really wanna tell you
That love is like a furnace

That burns in and out of purpose
So hot that it makes me nervous

So large that it won't cool out
So big that it can't burn out

Was once sixteen, had a Saturday love
My heart beats fast in a far away love
Your eyes so pure, they never grow up

You stay with me, we never grow up, my friend

I know that I can't tell you
My mind is running circles

My eyes have begun to swirl
Like death that is not as sterile
I ain't gonna let you down
I ain't gonna let you leave me

I'm sorry but I can't tell you
This life it makes me crazy
So I just like to daydream
Cuz dreams, yeah, they make me happy

Will you come along, my love?
Will you come along here with me?

Five days in the Saline Valley on an untested freshly built bike.

You can go if only you believe...

Ok, my brethren...let's get started.

It took forever to get myself ready to go.

Getting a late start let a storm get past me and set me up for a freezing day.

I kept it at 75 mph and the CHP seemed ok to just let me roll today. By the time I could see them through the ice on my face shield they had my speed, so why slow down?

The weather finally got better near Bishop and I made Big Pine for my last fuel stop. I had been getting about 40 mpg and the bike was running great.

Ok, we're going in...

Stopped for a break and a nip.

I made it to camp, I added a power port for my mattress compressor and my Slime compressor. It's been years of sitting in the dirt wheezing into my air mattress, sure was nice to just stand there drinking a beer while it filled up.

I had the worlds most awesome Lunchable for dinner.

I went for a soak and met some new people, but I heard a voice at a nearby camp and went for a look. "Hello, the camp.", "Yes?", "I'm here for your last beer.", haha, it was Last Beer Dan as we started calling him last year. Hugs and stuff, explaining that Paris was okay, but not well enough to make the trip this year and all that.

I ended the night with some popcorn.

My camp.

As many of you know I've been working extremely hard the last couple of months to transform this bike and today is all about taking a nap, reading a book and soaking in hot springs until my skin melts off.

Made some brunch.

Dan and gang stopped by to tell me they were hiking to the upper springs. I said I'd give them an hour, then ride up to join them. He said that if I was riding I should go to his camp and get some beer for the group.

Don't have to twist my arm.

I still made it there before them.

There was a couple there, so I just sat around outside the springs waiting for the gang.

Even the desert has a fall season.

I hung around while the group started back to camp. Very nice peeps, David shared his snacks with all of us.

This is what the upper springs look like.

With the moon as my witness I made dinner.

Goodnight to day 2.

Dave and Susie headed out the next morning.

I plan to do nothing.

I walked around a bit looking at stuff.

Goobers down at cell phone point, sometimes you can get out...I never try.

Ahhh....

A group of us had become friends and we started pooling resources for fantastic meals at Dan's camp.

Dan had made a peach cobbler and we went over to Giff's camp to share and get some stories out of him...another old timer pushing 80 years old and full of history.

Goodnight to whatever day this is?

Naked, it's the only juice I drink at the hot springs.

I had made plans with Nowhere Bob to go for a ride and hike today, so I was up early for a good breakfast...he's one hell of a hiker and I needed some fuel to keep up with him.

I gave my scraps to the mean birds and they got in a big fight, two of them tumbling around clawing each other while the rest ate up their share.

Then a nice dove came up making eyes at me, but I had already put up all of the food.

Ever seen a street legal DR125 with 40,000 miles? Welp, there you go.

Off we went.

I shot some video, but it's so incredibly boring that I'm not going to use it. We are going to a mine that Bob has been going to, he's been restoring the trail and I think he just wanted me for free labor.

Yup, not going up that.

We hiked from there.

Extremely steep and high risk.

Yes, we had to walk on it.

Made it to the top.

Then we had to go back down. I'd much rather climb than descend.

Oh gawd...

Then we went to the weeping wall for lunch.

That's all of the pictures from that day, a Monday. It was nice and quiet back at camp. We did another nice dinner all together, five of us I think. Drank some beer in the hot springs and made plans for the trip out the next day.
