I wonder about this as well. Seems to me it should be snug like the wheel bearings.

Check out my video a few pages back... is it as bad as that? I figured mine was due to heat distortion from riding with a bad bearing. I can't believe that its normal.

But I suppose maybe. Anyone?

Hub bearing

I wiped out my own sprocket hub bearing when I adjusted my KLR chain as if it was a CB750. This resulted in a chain way too tight (especially upon a hard landing), it wiped out the chain and bearing but I stopped before it was able to spin in the hub, my hub was still ok. You will likely have to replace or repair that sprocket hub. Also, the KLR chain should seem LOOSE when it is right.

God bless and best regards, BigWrench

Hi all, just a quickie, my new KLR is just about run in and due it's 1k service. I really want to get it de-restricted. Can anyone tell me how to do it or am I better getting the dealer to do it at first service? Thanks.

.

Are no Aussie friends going to chip in here?

If no response here, I do recall seeing comments a few years back on one of the other KLR specific sites.

What do we mean by "de-restricted"... airbox modification? Exhaust modification? Carb mods?

Tons of info over on KLRWorld.com

The Australian delivered KLRs have a government directed restriction installed onto the bikes/carb. This severely limits the power. It (like the EPA controls placed on ours here in the USA, which does not affect the performance) can be removed.

I have an 08 works manual at home that I recall has the Aussie limiter illustrated. I will review it when I get home from work.

Hey guys. I want to get the Trail Tech Digital Stryker Gauge for my 2012 KLR. Does anyone have this device on their KLR? And if you do, how did you mount it? Also any opinions if it's a good device or not will be helpul also. I have some ideas on mounting it wanted to double check before I spend the bucks on this device and the associated parts. Thanks!

I have a Vapor on my '08 and I love it. Mine is just mounted to the bars with the included clamp and bracket but there are more than a few people who have gone with a complete dash remodel. The battery will only last about a year or so but it's very easy to replace. Mine's been beat pretty hard and it's still in great shape.

Pull the cable off both the speedo and wheel hub. You may need a bit of help from some lightly-applied pliers. I'll bet you'll find one of the cable tips broken off. Hopefully its that and not the speedo unit itself.
