Joined the KLR fray in December .. Today was the first outing on my new to me 2012 . I must say .. So far I am really impressed ! I have owned a couple DR 650s for the past few years .. Loved them but not a comfortable bike without excessive modifications .
Bike is stock except for crash bars , a set of aftermarket lights and a Emgo top box . Comfy .. Awesome bike for exploring the back road and mountain roads around me . Can't wait to get many miles under this bike

Went for a ride today as well. I have the impression it isn't as nice here as it is in northern california!

Was putting some miles on dad's bike after installing a 685 and a reworked head, found a hole that was worse than it looked

All hale the KLR!!

So you guys got the lastest edition of Cycle World and seen the Adventure Series shootout? Know who won even compared to the Super Tenere, 800XC, and KTM? The KLR 650. Go figure huh? Lol. Just thought I'd brag up the old girl a bit.

First ride of the season!

Felt great to get back out on the KLR again, ran like the finely maintained piece of precision engineering it is.

Just a short trip - in my excitement to hit the road I neglected to put on a sweater or vest.

Going to try and ride in to work tomorrow, wish me luck dodging ice patches...

"What are you up to?"

"Oh hey, Dad - just breaking in the bike for you. It's running great, that 685 really smoothed it out. It's got more punch now, too."

"Fantastic! I'm just itching it take it out, is it in the driveway?"

"Uh... no. But don't worry - I parked in a safe place where nobody will be able to steal it. Oh, hey - on an unrelated note, do you know if we have a place in town that rents cranes or front-end loaders?"

I like that,no battery tenders for you,I'm doing about 12000 miles a year and the maintenance of most Asian bikes allows us to ride them hard and not break the bank or spend to much time doing it,my commute is only once a week as I sleep in the Peterbilt during my work week.
