The cables absolutely run from vertical beams, which support the roadway. Yes, it has an upper arch providing additional bracing. I have a more classical example of a cable stay bridge, but want to know if this would be ok for the type,


Separately,

DP gave me some guidance on the next two pictures which I thought were neat- three bridge types in one photo-- lift, truss (leading to the RR lift bridge), and cantilever.





And an oddity -- a Jackknife Bridge, which I guess is a kind of lift bridge.





PS-- extra credit for the color matched football eh?
Nice I worked on front St this week and saw 3 of these bridges

Hadn't gotten that far yet, but I had to look to New Jersey to find the ordinance component.
